He once more surveys the group, "Strange that these people are my only chance to survive. Fortuna, why? Why must I always have to..." At this he chokes off the words. He continues to pet the kitten, calming by degrees, until the guy in the robe walks into the ballroom. =========================== Date: Wed, 16 Apr 1997 09:34:42 From: "L.J. X-Mailing-List: archive/latest/654 Log grows a few feet to better manage the ladder rungs and climbs up and through the hole. He returns a few moments later with a bottle of rum. "Thought I smelled liquor up there. The room is a bolthole. The tunnel leads to a fake wine keg which opens up as the door here. There's a tavern on the other side. From to look of the light outside, it's probably about noon. Lots of time for a drink." Adn with that he pops open the bottle and srinks back down to Dwarf size as he enjoys his refreshment. Driss and Magi appear in the middle of the Enchanted Forest. The rest of the pantheon are already assembled: Dwar, god of the Earth; Qualgi Goddess of the Oceans; Diswan, God fo Death; Dargo, God of dragons and fell creatures, Isala, Goddess of the Storm; Ligi, Godess of the Sun; and of course, Darath, God of the Moon. Darath towered nearly 12 feet tall, clad completely in silver platemail, with a black greathelm, etched with a silver moon over the face. In his hand, he twirled a massive greatsword as if ti were nothing. "It's about time he showed up!" Driss smiles and gave a little bow, "Oh I'm so sorry, I forgot you are old and need your sleep. Or were you afraid Diswan might claim your soul at anytime at such a venerable station in life?" Darath growlled and swung the greatsword at Driss, but had it blocked by Magi's staff, "Not until I say so. Places please gentlemen." Darath and Driss moved away from the rest to face off, well as best they could with Darath being twice Driss's size. Magi gave the call to lay on, and Darath's greatsword swing was true, striking a mighty blow to the spot where Driss had stood. But the ground was all that got injured. Driss had flipped himself up into the trees adn climbed for all he was worth. Darath gave out a yell and with a desparaging remark about Driss's parentage, Darath felled the tree from under the God of Theives. Driss lept to the next one as the first fell, and again and again. Each tree he lept to was in turn chopped down by a singel blow from Darath's massive sword. Finally Driss spotted his quarry and landed next to a gnarled old oak, and cried out, "Oh look at the devestation grand and ancient Treeant! Will you allow this man to slaughter innocent trees unchallenged?" With that, several old trees began to move adn advance on Darath. His slices chopped them apart, but they magic let them regnerate almost as fast as he could chop. He was just about rid of this menace when He felt a sharp pain in his sides, and blood filled his lungs. Driss pulled out his pair of daggers from Darath's sides and stepped over him to approach the others. "well I'm tired now, I'll see you all tomarrow! Rest up Darath!" But Darath's body had already turned to mist and returned to his own realm. =========================== Date: Wed, 16 Apr 1997 20:53:01 From: "L.J. Wolfe" Subject: Re: Aae-confabs and combat. I was kinda busy on my own side right now. After night falls, this city will become packed with all kinds of people. Mostly Human, but there are a large number of Drow, Orcs, Lizardmen and other... distastful races? No offense Xzerrion. Strangers will be viewed with suspicion, but times are hard under Darath's rule, and silver makes people friends fast. But _don't_ ever offer anyone gold here. You won't find any gold anywhere in the kingdom. Not in coins, jewelry, dishes, cloth, nothing. They believe gold is a metal created in the sun and given to Quaren by Ligi, therefor holy to her temple, and illegal here." "So, if I remember right, we're in the town of Zag, near the border between Dorwil and Misern. We should be able to fit in alright if we convince them we snuck over the border for some reason. Smugglers and Mercenaries usually are the norm for border crossers, but everyday adventurers cross too. It's much easier to get into Misern than out again. Into, you just have high taxes on everything you bring in. Outof, you have Guard in skimmers and foot partols who don't care to hear any excuses or pleas." "Border crossers can account for our clothing too until we buy something more fitting for southern Misern. People don't get to hear much about their neighbors to the north, and the south and west are bordered by the Shadowrealm, the untamed wilds. Posing as northerners, they will just think of our clothes as the current fashion. Further south, you begin to see more arabic styled clothing like The Stranger's, and west, over the mountains and into the desert, you need that clothing. This side of the mountains is much more tropical, but west of the mountains is a vast wasteland about a hundred miles long. And somewhere in the middle of it is the old capital city where Darath's castle is." =========================== Date: Fri, 18 Apr 1997 00:49:38 From: "L.J. John bows toward Morgan, a grand, sweeping bow that looks very intricate, with a feathered hat appearing in his hand as he sweeps it toward the floor. "I too, would wish to go, milady." There is a half smile on his lips, he seems to be enjoying himself. "That is, if no one has any objections?" He looks around at the rest of the CAoL. "Besides, we might as well _all_ go. The only question is who should go first. I, for one, would like to stay in a place more.." he searches for the right word, "escapable." =========================== Date: Sun, 20 Apr 1997 11:23:08 -0700 (PDT) From: Paul Campbell Subject: Re: AAE3: moving on X-Mailing-List: archive/latest/702 On Sun, 20 Apr 1997, Caprice wrote: > Caprice smiles oddly, "Perhaps I should? Xzerrion replaces his sigil under his tunic, and draws Frostbite. `One of us should probably join you, to avoid situations like in Arcadia, where one person got seperated and attacked. I'll join you, as I have about eighty years experience in keeping silent.' =========================== Date: Sun, 20 Apr 1997 11:27:31 -0700 (PDT) From: Paul Campbell Subject: Re: AAE3: moving on X-Mailing-List: archive/latest/703 On Sun, 20 Apr 1997, Shadow wrote: > "Besides, we might as well _all_ go. After all, drow can be easily impressed by one self-confidently demonstrating noble rank and superiority, and I can play that game fairly convincingly. Somehow, however, the whole person she is seems to have changed... The woman standing there now is obviously a bodyguard, and might have duties other than that, though most would feel a strong urge NOT to ask. Especially as torturing people for m'lord's amusement might be involved. She gives Xzerrion a small, deferrential bow as he looks at her. =========================== Date: Sun, 20 Apr 1997 11:50:30 -0700 (PDT) From: Paul Campbell Subject: Re: AAE3: moving on X-Mailing-List: archive/latest/705 On Sun, 20 Apr 1997, caprice wrote: > Caprice doesn't say a word, but simply adjusts her clothing and > posture a bit as she steps behind, and slightly to one side of > Xzerrion. Xzerrion maintains a straight face, but can be heard chuckling over the telepathic link. Setting a stern expression on his face, he confidently climbs up the ladder and steps forward into the room above, moving aside for Caprice to take her place. He glares about the room, displaying the approximate expression a phenomenally rich noble would use on seeing several homeless taking up residence in his great hall. =========================== Date: Sun, 20 Apr 1997 13:44:40 -0700 (PDT) From: fuzzy Subject: Re: AAE3: moving on X-Mailing-List: archive/latest/706 On Sun, 20 Apr 1997, Paul Campbell wrote: > Xzerrion maintains a straight face, but can be heard chuckling over > the telepathic link. Morgan gestures to Roscoe that maybe he should move to the front as well, in whatever form seems appropriate. <*Xzerrion, if it seems like it would help, could you make the rest of us look like we belong in your retinue? Grabbing some coins and a few pears, figs and grapes from the floor where the table crashed, Knytt slips them inside his pack quickly. He then holds his golden staff out and closes his eyes. The gold ripples and shimmers as rainbow hues are reflected inside the room. The staff shrinks to pen size and Knytt slips it in an inside pocket of his vest. "Ill keep an eye on Junior. Let's get this show on the road." To Junior, "I tend to travel fast, do you want to ride, or try to keep up on foot?" ===========================
