Action, Adventure, Excitement, Part 3 Chapter 11 From: gamer@host.yab.com Date: Thu, 29 May 1997 17:31:27 -0700 (MST) Subject: Re: AAE3 - Tidying up Xzerrion's trip On Thu, 29 May 1997, Paul Campbell wrote: > Meanwhile, the front rank of drow press forward, trying to overrun > Czaris and Blacky before the two of them cause more confusion. > > Czaris fires his bow from his cover, trying hard to remember which drow is Lieth. He's aiming at one drow, when he lowers his bow and grabs up a shortsword form the floor. This drow he recognises. _This_ drow was his torturer. "You should have taken both hands from me maggot. I can still wield a sword with my left one. Don't think that I will be so generous to you." Czaris snarls. Blacky in the meantime is facing the spiders who seems only slightly confused about having a target sitting up on the ceiling waiting for them. Reaching into his robes, Blacky draws out a scimitar and begins to twirl it expertly while he holds onto the stone roof with his other hand and feet. The Drow looks at Czaris with confusion for a mear moment, then shrugs, "I don't know who you are half-elf, except that you are going to be dead." Now it is Czaris's turn to be surprised. With a beastial yell, he charges the Drow torturer. A sword flashes through the smoke, and a single figure falls to the floor. Blacky looks up (down?) from his task of cutting the legs out from under (over?) spiders (OOC: Boy its hard to write for upsidedown combat!) when he sees Czaris fall. "_CZARISSS_!!!!!!!" Diving down from the ceiling, his claws take off the torturer's head before he even touches the ground. Blacky looks down at the fallen form of his friend, and then at the shapes swirling in the smoke. He begins to wriggle, and his robes fall to teh floor, leaving him completely un-encumbered (As well as naked, but if any of you are really interested in seeing naked lizards I'm going to wonder abou tyou!) Fire flashes in his eyes as he focusses himself on doing what he has trained all his life to do, and what has built him a reputation as one of the greatest assassins in Quaren. Leaping from wall to floor to ceiling to wall, every time his claws and tetth flashing until his body is covered in drow blood... From behind the reienforcements walks up a human and a dwarf. "Hey, this the place Onan?" Rockhead asks. "According the the scents on the winds, yes." replies Onan while holding his head as if it's about to fall off, "Couldn't this have taken place _tomarrow_?" "Well, if this is the place, then those must be the targets! Time to party!" replies Rockhead cheerily, while ignoring his freind's hungover state. Then five feet and 225lbs of dwarvish fury charges the Drow with his KrossKriss in hand and a battlecry in his throat. The Weyr move in... ...and the Kurgan roars at them. "Back off, you second-raters! He's mine!" Blaze stares at this, astonished, and salutes the Kurgan. "You may be a monster, sir, but at least you have honor." The Kurgan laughs. "If you don't like the rules, find a safer game." The undead creature slashes out. "Have it your way," Blaze says, suddenly inspired. His sword snakes out, stabbing at where the Kurgan's third eye would be. The Kurgan parries against a neck slash-and stares in astonishment as the energies animating him are disrupted. "Game over," Blaze chuckles. A growling begins around him... Like the rogue wolves they are, they swarm on him as one. Roland's sword quickly becomes a golden staff, spinning desperately to keep his attackers at bay, while his cape seems to take on a life of its own, ensnaring the creatures as they claw at him. Onan and John feel massive energies building within Xzerrion, and sense a dark tinge to them as he draws deeply on the house sigil. There had always been a block in Xzerrion's head, something which prevented him from focusing sufficiently to work the greater offensive magics. But to his rage now, the block was less than nothing, and shatters. Hatred blazing from his eyes, Xzerrion lashes out out Drisonel with successive bolts of lightning. Despite her resistances to magic, Drisonel staggers back as her robes begin smoking. `You can't do that ...' she gasps. Drisonel summons a globe of darkness and retreats into it, lashing back with the focused power of Lloth.. Xzerrion is thrown back against the wall, and slides to the ground with an audible thump. His vision begins to clear just in time to see two spiders about the size of small ponies skuttle towards him. `Shit,' he snarls. With a word, Xzerrion dispels Drisonel's globe of darkness and hurls a smoking ball of fire straight at her head, which Drisonel ducks just before it explodes, singing her and incinerating several spiders. Drisonel glares back at Xzerrion, her rage almost a match for his own. `You think I'm defeated? I've barely started.' At her command, some of the drow bodies return to their feet and, snarling, rejoin the fight. Xzerrion fishes a wand out of his belt pouch. `I've never liked undead.' With a flash of sunlight from his wand, a knot of drow zombies distintigrates, but several more keep advancing. `As for you, Drisonel,' Xzerrion snarls, `endgame!' Xzerrion raises both hands to deliver a powerful magical blast, the rubies on his sigil glowing bright red. But before the blast can be delivered, a crossbow bolt smacks into Xzerrion's arm. 'Nuff said. Let me see what this mini-GM can do to help. There is ONE person who knows where the prisoners are for sure. At least, currently. AND, this can be something that will take out all of my villians/extraneous characters but Knytt. I was intending to put my people in such a situation that they could carry on on their own without interfereing with the group. So, without further ado........ A small black object appears on the ground by Crow's feet. It bleeps quietly and patiently as it tries to attract her attention without interfering in her magick/fighting/etc. ------------ Knytt and the Volvo vanish... ------------ Will and the Bots disappear from the sewers. ------------ When Crow gets the chance to examine the black object, an Apple Newton, they will discover the following note: Will, the Bots and I are stuck in a sort of Limbo. We are aboard a ship in very high orbit. I will fill you in on how I got all this sometime later. But we culled this from information will and the bots had on the controller's x-windows, and what the ship's computers had...thanks to Sparky. It is a full record of all activity on Quaren. The previous owner kept very good records on all of us and all our current enemies. He also had records of several possible futures, but I think we just made those null and void. Apparently, he was going to use whatever the Vorlons put in me to regenerate himself. Someone there may recall a man-in-black I met up with in Arcadia...He was apparently just after me, but he mentions something about a Starfire gem of Driscoll's being his next target, once the Controller had obtained it...Is it worth investigating? Could be. Anyway, there is MUCH more within. You can access my satellite and get a GPS as well as visual look at all of Quaren. I can't pinpoint where the Controller is, those coordinates got erased when a stray shot hit one of the...well, it's hard to tell what it is now. :) But, if the Controller uses his X-Window again, anyone who knows how to read it can find where he is orginating from. I also have transcripts and video of some very interesting conversations between the Controller and Drisonel, the Controller and Darath the Black, and the Controller and A SECOND CONTROLLER. This thing is getting to look like a russian novel. Lots of characters rushing in and out. I have left a lot out I will contact you again as soon as possible. There is a holographic imaging chamber here...that has communications potential. And as soon as I can get the TARDIS through this limbo, I will meet up with you all. Good luck guys and gals. --Knytt, Will and the bots. Hopefully, I have left enough trap doors for the rest of the villians to slip through while letting the CAoL get back to the current mission. I have been assuming (I think rightfully so) that our GMs have been holding their cards to their chests anyway. At least this way, the rest of you have the full posts to work with. I know, it's a bit of a cheat, but I had intended to do this for our villians (MAYBE), so why not do it for the CaoL? Maybe now we have a level playing field. Anyway, this takes me WELL out of the game for the next week. I will post what happened to Knytt, Will and the Bots when I get a few moments, under the title LIMBO. Oh, and just for completeness, I will finish that bit with Khistt and Vincent. Actually, though Knytt doesn't know it, Mahloy was the man in black then too.... Hello all. Just dawned on me I may have overstepped my bounds on that last post. I know, I get possessed with an idea and carry it out without making sure I don't wreck all YOUR ideas. Ok, to clean up what I said last time: Just for internal consistancy, it was the Time Lords who gave Knytt the regeneration. I said Robot put all he knew on the X-Windows on file...that is still true, but it should take longer than the next window to trace where the Controller's base is. If I may SUGGEST (as opposed to flat stating it and making Gamer work around it) either the Controller will have to use the X-Windows frequently so the CAoL can detect a pattern and/or he will have to hold an X-window open for a long period (say open window, taunt CAoL while making drow troops retreat through it, then go through and close it). As for what Knytt had on file, I am assuming anything that wasn't posted (ferinstance when the Controller fed his two prisoners, he didn't actually SAY they were Driss' brothers) is still unknown. So the video clip of the prisoners is too fuzzy to tell who they are, perhaps even too fuzzy to be definitely human. As for the future stuff, that is all toast. Knytt can watch events unfold, but he still won't know the entire story unless someone GIVES OUT the entire story. As a further limitation, someone blew up the device that was letting KnightShift make holograms that could interact with the world around him. Knytt will be a holographic projection THROUGH THE LENS. Hmmm, holographic imaging chamber that runs through the lens so only those with a lens (I will encompass the entire CAoL if they like, though I know John has refused being on the link unless it was vital.) Hey, this sounds familiar. Can you say, "Oh Boy..." This accomplishes three things. 1) Knytt gets to play comic relief. 2) I can wait until there is something I really want in on in person before I jump back in. 3) I have felt a tad burnt out lately, so a short break to get me mentally back on my feet would be good. I never really stated an opinion on what has been said on Crow's RANT. I think I will keep it that way, escept to say I understand how everybody feels. I didn't start my mini-adventure until I got so confused as to where to go that I thought on a tangent might be fun. I know we have all been running off on our own lately and keeping the group together is not a bad idea. If anyone wants to use my character's setup to introduce their own clues (since technically, I have none. I will be reacting along with the rest of you) by all means do. If you don't feel comfortable writing for me, just send them along and I will reveal them in true Knytt style. Anything from neon signs in the middle of the Misern desert pointing the way to the Controller's hideout to a fragment of a scrambled transmission with the barest of clues I consider valid. ;-) I even like Dean Stockwell's wardrobe. And I have smoked a few good cigars...and a few bad ones. ;) Anyway, what this boils down to is I got into this to have fun. Half my posts are just me clowning around anyway. So, if taking my character aside (at a very convenient time anyway) and using him to leak info to the good guys will help anyone, by all means feel free. I only have one reservation. No one writes the suggestive stuff but me. :) Well, that's it for me for a few days...(famous last words, eh Roland? :> heh, you all know I will be checking email until I walk out the door.) See ya in a few days or so. --Mike =========================== Date: Fri, 30 May 1997 22:41:26 -0400 (EDT) From: Shadow Subject: Re: AAE3 - Tidying up Xzerrion's trip :) On Thu, 29 May 1997, Paul Campbell wrote: > A foe left behind John, one thought dead, slowly rises to his feet. > The house mage, his robes torn, smoking, and filthy, focuses with > all of his concentration on the wizard who so humiliated him. > > `Die, fool!' > > He hurls a lightning ball straight at John's back. From it, slightly staggering, is a wild-haired Knytt in burgundy bathrobe, forest green pyjamas and black slippers. In one hand is a small, thin, yellow piece of plastic that looks like a gameboy. In the other is a white mug with "I #!$@@% HATE mornings!" written in blue letters. Knytt takes a sip from the cup as the rectangle shrinks into nothingness. He then walks over to Roland. "Well, the bots, Will and I have finally gotten the holographic imaging chamber to work. Unfortunately, it only works through the lenses. But, I can at least fine-tune it to individual members of the group. Though everyone on the link should be able to hear me. It is 2 am here, 15 weeks after we vanished, but that is purely our perception of it. I will try and explain it all when I am more clear-minded." Knytt sips from the cup. "Will never did make good coffee. Anyway, Darath the Black is not a God, he just thinks he is. He may have been enhanced by Darath, but he is in no way a God. Let it go... Thats right, you can still hope but you can no longer assume your hopes to be realities.\ \Now we are ready to start\ \Here {} is how Most kind of Shields are Done\ \Here {} is how to let Links though your Shields\ \Here {} is how to Center and Ground\ \Here {} is how to Send to a Specific Mind or Group of Minds\ \Here {} is how to Scan for a known Mind Pattern\ \Here {} is how to Link Sensory Data\ \Here {} is how to Charge and Imprint an Object\ \Here {} is how to achieve a Rapport state\ \Here {} is how to link for Group Work\ The Display and Practice of these goes on until John has enough control to not be a danger to the others and takes Several Days Subjective. Story Energy in a Object Set a Pattern into a Object Example: Tarot Cards are a useful tool to focus the mind's eye, as well as a tool to access perceptions not immediately availible to the consious mind. To Prepair a deck for your personal use you would charge it with energy then take each card and imprint your own understanding of its meaning on it, In general this will increase the clarity of any 'readings' you do. This is why it is bad manners to casually handle someone elses Deck. My Deck has an extremely Fine Detail to the Imprint and a High Charge for times when I don't have enough energy for a full Scan. 1 Day to prep. and First Charge. 1 Day per card to Imprint. 1 Day to apply Final Charge and seal. Total 80 Days of effort. You can also store a recorded message, or a simple function like a transponder so that it can be tracked, or a simple Trigger/Response pair ie if a mind enters this room open a Link to you. In game terms: Charge = Store Energy, Imprint = Store Pattern Pattern = Information or Function, if Function then Function uses Charge. >> \Here {} is how to achieve a Rapport state\ ?????????????????????????????^^^^^^^^^^^^^???????????????????????????? The Rapport state is useful for healing functions as you will be able to feel the damage from the 'inside'. It also means putting your mind and energies in phase with someone else's so that there is less chance of interferance between the two, Allowing for very deep linkages without a system shock side effect, And a Requirement for shareing energies safely, and a requirement for the next item. >> \Here {} is how to link for Group Work\ > OOC: Just a quickie on what the 3 above exactly are?
