Action, Adventure, Excitement, Part 3 Chapter 16 Date: Mon, 23 Jun 1997 21:19:33 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Aae-MI On Mon, 23 Jun 1997 21:03:16 -0700 (MST), in Message # 00000176 gamer@host.yab.com said: Driss looks at the debate that's about to grow again and a look of utter annoyance crosses his face. "I have one thing to say on this matter. You all know what I know I'm sure. But isn't it better to live for only one day, able to hold your head up and say that you are free, than to live a thousand years as a slave? No one is saying that any of you have to stay to fight a war. But you have to remember, Darath has been in power for over 100 years now. Most of these people are third and fourht generation slaves. They don't know any kind of life except that of Darath's rule. Yes, there have been those idealistic enough to attempt to overthrow Darath in the past. Some of them were like you saw in my freind Czaris. Blinded so badly by their own hate, they can't keep others in mind enough to lead an army. And those who do have the wits and fire both to rise up and pose a real threat, Darath finds. And publicly executes to remind everyone of their place. "There are those though who hold the wit, and the tinder for hte fire, but avoid the flame out of fear. Darath is hurting from Zag. The undead walk teh streets there tonight acting as his fist to restore order, but it's too late. The word has already spread about his loss there. If more losses keep coming, confidence will grow adn Darath's government will fall. But we're not going to be staying long enough to do that I'm sure. So we need to make an investment in teh people here. We don't even have to get them to activly join us now, only to watch, and to learn that Darath the Black is not undefeatable. "OK, perhaps I've gotten a bit long-winded about this, but it's because I have a personal stake out there. Even if it were not his own orders that caused their capture, Darath the Black has broken up hundreds of families just the same. With your help, I will see my Brothers again, but it takes so little to keep anyone else from lamenting about siblings they lose in the middle of the night to Darath the Black and never see again. You are not staying to fight any wars and no one is asking you to. But this world is my home, as it is Argent's. I dont' know yet if I am going with you or not, and I figure at some time there will have to be a parting between Argent and Caprice, leaving one here, and the other to adventures in other worlds. I'm not asking you to stay and fight a war, but can you deny the requests of two freinds who are also natives of this world when we ask you to help give these people a chance to see they can decide for themselves what their fate is?" Blacky nods his head slowly, "Asss passssionate and eloquent assss ever Drisssss. I for one will give any aid that I can to the caussse both now and after you all leave. It wasn't until much later that I knew what they were. BattleMechs. Three that I can remember, an MAD-3r Marauder, an OSR-2C Ostroc, and a SCP-1N Scorpion. For actual monsters in the army, I think Lizardmen, Ogres and Lycanthropes were about the worst of it. Of course there's also a group of Juicers down there. Paranoid Schitzophrenics with Homocidal Tendencies hooked up to special armor that feeds various drugs into their systems to make them docile or superhuman maniacs as the need is at the moment. "Inside the building there's doors with keypad locks, cameras, and guards on patrol. There also must be some patrols with Lanishes, I passed the Lanish kennels down in the dungeon and they were half empty. I didn't notice anything else detecting magic inside, but they might have mages watching that somehow didn't take notice of me. Morgan's in the fourth level of the dungeon, in the area usually used for solitary." =========================== Date: Mon, 23 Jun 1997 23:20:02 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: Aae-MI On Tue, 24 Jun 1997 01:11:59 -0500, in Message # 00000177 Michael Jon Knight said: >On Mon, 23 Jun 1997 21:03:16 -0700 (MST), in Message # 00000176 > gamer@host.yab.com said: > > "There are those though who hold the wit, and the tinder for hte >fire, but avoid the flame out of fear. If I can get to just one, I can use my EK to enter the computer system and deactivate them all. Heh. That plan might actually be better..." =========================== From: Martin Gerster Subject: A Brief Interlude (Part 2) (Very Long!) (Sorry!) Date: Wed, 25 Jun 97 13:54:23 PDT (O.O.C.: Humor me folks; this one takes place before the events in the "Working in the lab, early one day..." posts) In a room in one of the Controler(s)'s Strongholds on Quarren (a room which is also, not coincidentaly, an extension of Controler^2's TARDIS) a figure in darkish robes huddles over the operation of an indecypherable console while Controler^2 looks on. "So, 'my friend'," says the robed figure, you've assured me that you can deliver this 'Knytt' to me relativly unharmed?" The technological "Iron Golem" form of Controler^2 nods its head. "Well," continues the figure, who's face cannot be seen,"If what you've assured me is also true; if he is truly the result of a Time-Lord experiment and has also been a pawn/agent of them as well, then he will be the perfect pawn/tool/weapon against them for my revenge against them as well!" "I caution you," interjects the Controler^2, "Knytt has also been experimented upon and used by another race. A race that has been said to be more powerfull even than the Time-Lords." "Outragous!" exclaimes the "faceless" figure, "Controler, I find it hard to believe that you have access to the Time-Lord's technologies," he gestures about the room, indicating their suroundings, "But you obviously know very little about it, or about them!" He continues,"The Time-Lords were the first race to claw their way out of the bio-organic soup of the Cosmos after the initial hydrgen inrush; the First Event! It's imposible for another race to exist that would be more powerfull than the Time-Lords!" "They are called the Vorlons." again interjected Controler^2. "Preposterous! The only thing you need worry about, my atomatiod ally is that this 'Knytt,' in his incarnation as 'KnightShift' became acquainted with the Doctor. Then through Knytt I shall exact my Vengance upon the Doctor and through him I shall have my Rvenge upon the Time-Lords!" The hooded and robed figure was begining to sound maniaical. "It was their fault that I became trapped in this realm of non-existance! Only through your chance intervention was I able to even be here, and even now I can only survive inside the limbo of this TARDIS!" "But you've never explained to me why you want to defeat the Doctor." Dark-colored robes huricane around and the figure entrenched within points an acusatory figure at the Cybernetic Mastermind. "You amaze me! I think that dwelling inside that metalic shell for so long has dulled your mind! I don't want to defeat the Doctor; I want to become him!" "Some indeterminate time in the future, the Doctor will come into contact with something so foreign and so repulsive to him that he will reject all that which he holds dear and will become so magnificent a force for evil that the efeminite fop who previously held the post for the Universe's greatest threat to its well-being will seem like a choir-boy by comparison! Only, that hasn't happened yet! Then those, self-absorbed, interlopers who comprise the High Council of the Time-Lords needed to quell another student rebelion led by that previously mentioned fop, the one who called himself 'Magnus' while we were at the Prydonian Academy together. But they couldn't do it themselves... no! They might as well be carved in stone for all the real action they take! They needed the Doctor! Their favorite pawn. To get him, they trumped up a farce of a trial for the Doctor and ignored the fact that the Doctor had already been tried for his crimes against the Time-Lord's, so-called, laws. They needed the perfect prosecutor to make it all seem real, so they reached into the far future and pulled out this anti-Doctor. Only the Doctor was too smart for all three of his adversaries, the revolt he quelled, the Time-Lords he outwitted, and the 'anti-Doctor' -- the Doctor made sure he'd be stuck between existance and non-existance for an eternity! But thankfully you blundered through, Controler. Now go fetch me that 'Knytt' and deliver to me my tool for Revenge!" At this, the figure pulled back his dark hood as he finished and a scowling, hawkish face appeared. "Whatever you 'command', *Valyard*!" said the Controler^2, giving the impresion of smiling, and turned and walked away. (O.O.C.: Ain't I a stinker? BTW, Kytt, it's the next part I'm going to need your help with, of course) As always... =========================== Date: Thu, 26 Jun 1997 14:40:08 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: Aae-MI On Thu, 26 Jun 1997 15:59:46 -0500, in Message # 00000201 Michael Jon Knight said: >On Tue, 24 Jun 97 20:12:01 +0100, in Message # 00000192 > Roland X said: > >>On Tue, 24 Jun 1997 01:11:59 -0500, in Message # 00000177 >> Michael Jon Knight said: >> > "Two points," Blaze replies. Except for Caprice, none of them understood. None of them cared. She had thrown away her life to help them escape the Drow. The only place she had ever been shown respect. Even the weaponsmaster would be after her... or perhaps especially him... the one drow she had ever felt anything for. She had even dreamed sometime... but all her dreams were dead now. The reflexes of childhood led Argent to the pratice room. She chose a tall wooden pell used for hand-to-hand practice when no partner as available. More than two feet scross, its surface was worn smooth by years of students. Argent began her kata, the black robes not hampering her performance as she placed precise, perfect blows against the wood with hands and feet. Damn them all. Some group of heroes. In and out, the locals are none of our concern. They had no idea how often locals had tried to rise up, and how often they had died. There was simply no way they could take on a god AND his allies AND his minions AND the local guard. Driscoll was fighting the god.... and many of his allies were the CAOL's enemies ANYWAY. If the self-ritgheous bastards would just HELP us, work together, so all attacked at one... But it wasn't THEIR fight, THEY weren't going to get involved. It didn't matter to them that millions lived in slavery, or were going to die from Driscoll's arrogance. To them it had already happened. Why should they risk themselves trying to change it. Her whole life was wasted. A feeble joke of the blackest humor. A lifetime without love. Hope now gone. Only things left now were the pain, the HATRED... Argent's face was a perfect mask, unreadable, as her blow hit the wooden pell with a sound like a crack of thunder as it split in half. The katana generates an opponent, a Raston Warrior Robot. Designed to be the perfect killing machine, the robot looks to be wearing a fencing costume, but the facemask is opaque. As the Robot generates a javelin (it's weapon of choice), Knytt takes a fighting stance. "Begin." The robot moves with lightning speed as Knytt blocks its every thrust. The robot moves faster than sight and attacks from behind. Knytt blocks without looking, turning to face the android. As the attack continues, Knytt's attitude becomes more fierce. The android compensates, using darts, mesh nets and other devices. The Gateway Katana blocks, cuts through, and otherwise deflects every attack. Then, suddenly, the fight is over. The Raston Warrior Robot thrusts with the javelin and Knytt side-steps, slicing the Robot's head off. "Next." Blaze's expression is unreadable from behind the sunglasses. (Yes, I know it's after dusk. Trust me. ) "I am here to run maintenance on the teleport shields provided by my organization. The encryption program was untested, and flaws have shown up in beta." The guard blinks. "Um, I'm not sure what that all means, sir, but I still need identification." (Yes, it understands Cat) Basically just tell it what you want it to do, and if it doesn't know what you mean it will ask for clarification (Best supplied Telepathicaly).\ \Tell Her to Mimic and Replace, She will transfer the Bindings and Monitor Connections from Morgan to herself maintaining Data Flow and Pattern, I had Planned on having the Triel split do it, and programmed for it, around the possible pre-emptive rescue yesterday, It will take about two minutes for the process to compleate safely.\ \Be aware that Nemisis and her Splits are not exactly 'Droids' they are both Weapon and Tool able to assume nearly any shape and function, What you will be leaving behind is set to make hash out of whatever penetrates the deception, or anything nearby on command, Then the Split will return to Nemisis.\ \The Data block I gave Nemisis at her nameing includes all of our images, some of our illusory images, and some of our opponents images, with behavior patterns to match, on command any Split will assume a given shape, Try tell it by name, if that doesn't work you will need to have a telepath transmit the image to the Split.\ >> *What's the kitten doing here? Blacky might be pissed off for no good reason, but I'm not." Another thunk comes from the training room as someone is thrown into a wall. "Besides, I've got a great reason for exiting quickly. Kuri always wants to cuddle after these sessions and it's hard to cuddle with someone while they're remenicing about forcefeeding someone their own spleen." He chuckles to himself as he runs back to his room for street clothing and his bow and quiver. As he heads for the door, "Ya know, sometimes I wonder why I stay married to Kuri. Oh yeh. now I remember. Fear. _Plus_ that thing she can do with her tounge!" Iasun slips out the front door, and a few moments later, the trainees come stumbling out of the training room and head to the kitchen for breakfast. Kuri exits last, stretching and mopping up sweat with a comvenient towel. She looks at the kitchen and smiles widely. "I knwo what *I* want to nibble on." she heads for the bedrooms and a moment later gives out a bellow that sends the trainees racing for the front door. "IASUN!!! YOU SON OF A WHORE-MONGERING HALF ORC! WHEN I FIND YOU, YOU'RE GOING TO WISH YOU HAD BEEN SPITTING IN DARATH'S FACE RATHER THAN SNEAKING OUT ON ME! I SWEAR, IF YOU'VE GONE ADVENTURING AGAIN..." In his room, Blacky looks up from the sword he's polishing and to the closed bedroom door. He flicks his tail up and closes the locking bolt before returning to his diversion. The Controller pushes a small cart into the cell where Morgan is being kept. He moves over to the IV, clamps it off and disconnects it, connecting a Y-shaped tube to the top of it, before reattaching the IV solution to one side. To the other end of the IV he adds another bag of clear liquid, with a spigot for flow control at the base of it. Bleeding the air out of the line, he then unclamps the IV and sets the spigot of hte new bag at a trickle. "just a little something to help you wonder about your sanity Morgan." He chuckles to himself as he pushes the cart back out of the cell and leaves her alone once again. Waking from his sleep, Squee hears the sound of movement echoing down the hallway. He scurries along it and sees the front door of the Tardis open and dry stale air mxing with the slightly anesceptic smell of the Tardis's air. Squee pokes his head out the door and sees stone walls with strange designs painted on them. Makeshift racks and shelves are filled with electronic equipment like what Squee had seen in Arcadia. scurrying along, he sees a cell with two disheveled- looking men. One looks like a perfect match of Driscoll, save for the week-old scragly beard. The other kinda resembles him, but is much more massive and had his head shaved, though now it was begining to grow back somewhat. The smaller one began to cough, a deep hacking cough, and finally spit a wad of phlegm mixed with blood into a corner of hte cell near the back wall. "That sounds like it's getting worse Matt." the larger one asked with obvious concern and worry. "It's not getting better, at least not in here. But gimme a couple good draughts of ale and I'll be fine Miles." replied Matt, his normal sing-songy speech made coarse and raspy. Moving along, Squee noticed a large tube with a woman floating in it in reddish liquid. Near to her was a clear glass vat with what looked like a 1 month-old baby girl floating in its yellowish liquid. Two robots were working quickly and silently, adjusting dials and taking readings from gauges. Squee reached out with his mind, [Unca Roscoe? Where are you? I thought I was in Knytt's house, but I couldn;t find you and I thought you were hiding, but you're hiding too good for me and I'm alone adn thee's these robots and I'm scared.] Roscoe's ears perked up, and relief flooded the link from his mind, but the worry didn't leave entirely. [Squee's alright, but I htink he got on that other Tardis somehow and is with the Controller now.] Then to Squee. [We're coming. we're going to get Morgan and then we'll track you through the link. Just hide. Remember how you hid in Arcadia? Do that again. You're a good hider! You're going to be our little spy. Pyewackett agrees here as well. The term 'God' may technically be overstepping his bounds. To humans, he is a God. To CATS...well, that's the question. Perhaps 'wizard' would be more appropriate. As he is written, he really doesn't have that many God-like powers. At least that he shows. Looking back over his written past, Pyewackett could best be equated with the character Humanity, who made a cameo in AAE. He is the embodiment of everything it is to be a Cat. Pyewackett does see himself as being above other cats. But, to call him a God OF cats...well, I don't see cats as creatures willing to worship anything. To put Pyewackett in Human terms, well, the name "Merlin' keeps springing to mind. He is an ancient Cat wizard. And he has no respect for human Gods, finding himself naturally superior. >3) Fuzzy is technically a Youngling. > (He never will be a Lord, unless he finds a female CatChangeling > 'or maybe one of the fae' to mate with.) > (Although if he lives long enough he will become an Elder.) Pyewackett sees Fuzzy as an intelligent, logical human who others, namely Knytt, would do well to emulate. As Pyewackett understands human lifespans, he figures Fuzzy to be a Lord or (at least approaching) an Elder. If he were to be honest and assign a rank to himself, it would be Lord (as the RL Pyewackett, who is the basis for this, has fathered 18 kittens). At any rate, Pyewackett is simply trying to be one of the team. He feels he is among friends, and does not expect any special treatment. Especially from Fuzzy. Pyewackett prefers the company of humans, ultimately, but someone so well versed in Cat culture is still refreshing. Like meeting another American while living in China. Consequently, he would rather Fuzzy be comfortable around him. >4) It never hurts to be polite. Very true, and the offer to drop the formalities still stands. Though, I think he likes the formality when it comes to the Triel Split. Now that he understands what is addressing him, he finds it rather user-friendly. :) --Mike =========================== Date: Fri, 4 Jul 1997 17:21:59 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: Aae: Clowns abound On Fri, 4 Jul 1997 17:16:54 -0700 (PDT), in Message # 00000248 fuzzy said: > On Fri, 04 Jul 1997 22:20:23 -0700, in Message # 00000246 > Gareth L Owen said: > > Stranger tracks the progress of Blaze and co through the enemies > defences via the Link. > > /* When you get to Morgan are you planning on burning out or fading > away? */ \I think the plan is to do a fade if possible, after the Nemisis Split has replaced Morgan.\ \Lord Pyewackett, If you want this form (for a Nemisis Split) stored for further use Please Give it a Name.\ ttfn Fuzzy =========================== Date: Fri, 4 Jul 1997 18:36:38 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: Aae: Clowns abound On Fri, 4 Jul 97 21:14:47 +0100, in Message # 00000249 Roland X said: >On Fri, 04 Jul 1997 22:20:23 -0700, in Message # 00000246 >Gareth L Owen said: > >Stranger tracks the progress of Blaze and co through the enemies >defences via the Link. > >/* When you get to Morgan are you planning on burning out or fading >away? */ *Wiseass,* Roland sends with a mental . *I'm planning to sneak out, if possible, and blast out, if necessary. Nemisis could do it in about 1 to 2 weeks of harvesting Matterials to increase her mass, But I will not ask her to endure that kind of trauma. (Massive Amputation) Besides it is to early for swaps. Let me lay-out what I think you are asking for in terms of what would be required of Nemisis and several of the rest of us to do it right. 1) Nemisis can build a Plant to create Nano-Morph Explorer Insects. 2) The insects can gather 'Before Doomsday' the Images of every sentient or domestic thing on the planet. (Possibly every Living Thing) With Behavior Patterns good for at least a few hours of activity. 3) A second Plant can create a Data Block from each Image 4) A third Plant Makes A Nano-Activated Polymer. (Anyone seen Virtuosity) 5) In the last hours we put the data blocks into the Polymer to make A Fake Duplicate of each image. 6) In the last minutes before the destruction We replace the Real creatures with the Polymer fakes, If this is done sooner the Gods will notice that Their worshipers are disappearing and act. 7) Phase 6 will require Lots of Magic and Tech to make the swaps and get the survivors to their new home. This way only the Gods, and some Non-Living Nano-Cultures are Lost. > Folx, I have a plan-and boy is it a doozy! Is That in general area of what you had in mind? \end Telepathic segment. ttfn Fuzzy =========================== Date: Sat, 5 Jul 1997 05:51:43 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: Aae: Clowns abound On Sat, 5 Jul 1997 07:36:31 -0500, in Message # 00000255 Michael Jon Knight said: >On Fri, 4 Jul 1997 17:16:54 -0700 (PDT), in Message # 00000248 >fuzzy said: > >\Lord Pyewackett, If you want this form (for a Nemisis Split) stored >for further use Please Give it a Name.\ *Okay...* #Nemisis Split, name this form 'Dorn'.# --Pyewackett =========================== Date: Sat, 5 Jul 1997 07:06:42 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: AAE III-The plan thickens On Sat, 5 Jul 1997 08:54:06 -0500, in Message # 00000256 Michael Jon Knight said: >On Fri, 4 Jul 1997 23:57:10 -0700 (PDT), in Message # 00000254 >fuzzy said: >6) In the last minutes before the destruction We replace the Real > creatures with the Polymer fakes, If this is done sooner the Gods > will notice that Their worshipers are disappearing and act. >7) Phase 6 will require Lots of Magic and Tech to make the swaps and > get the survivors to their new home. *More magic than _I_ have.
