Wolfe" said: (OOC: Cross-posted to the "Action, Adventure, Excitement" mailing list, alt.Callahans, and bcc'd to a couple of Callahanians I thought would like to see it who don't hang out in the Place often these days.) Another quiet day in Callahan's - but not for long ;-).... An x-window opens, revealing a city - if it is fair to call a massive grove that would dwarf redwoods, strung with golden bridges and crystal dwellings, protected by bastions built from rainbows, a city. Two sidhe, clad in green and bearing gold herald-trumpets, enter and blow an elaborate fanfare. When they have everyone's undivided attention, one of them speaks. "Gentles! Pray attend! Let all who hear these words know that today is a most joyous day, for on this day the immortals known as Roland Phoenix and Morgan Greywolf are to be joined in sacred union! Their Royal Majesties Oberon and Titania do therefore declare this day a day of feasting and celebration! All in this noble place are hereby invited to attend!" The two sidhe snap to smartly, turn, and walk through the X-Window. As the panorama zooms in, a grove-within-a-grove can be seen. The Sidhe have been decorating. Ribbons of light, strange whirling songmakers, and crystal birds adorn the wedding site, dragons fly overhead, fantastic fae mingle with Roland's immortal guests, and dolphins swim in rivers that wind through the air below them. There is a feeling much like an orchestra tuning up; many elements of beauty, not quite in unison, each finding its place in the song before the music begins. Then, the sounds of friendly conversation begins to die down, the people begin finding their seats or place in the wedding party, and soon, the grove is silent. All is ready. Titania and Oberon join hands and raise their arms. "We gather here in a ritual of love with two who would be wedded. Roland and Morgan, come forward to stand here before us and before the gods of Nature." The wedding party approaches the royal couple. Silver Phoenix is wearing her 'terminator' body, though she looks surprisingly gentle. Adorned in simple red and silver, she beams at her protege and his beloved. Dhyrclhanc is wearing a tuxedo. Further cannot truly be described. (OOC: Fill in as you wish, Martin! ) Following them are the happy immortals. Roland is garbed in a brilliant blue fabric and shining gold armor, the intricate chest plate inscribed by some incredible artist's rendition of a phoenix outlined in white gold. Morgan glows on his arm. Literally. Her gown would make any fairy-tale princess green with envy. The fabric can only be described as silver silk, but "silver" doesn't do justice to the rainbow of colors that shimmers about the Druidess. The circlet in her hair is only possible in Arcadia - the flowers couldn't be found anywhere else. The Flash ring Roland gave her when he proposed is now on her right hand. Oberon says to Roland, "If you do truly desire, O Roland, to marry this woman, I bid you present to her your blade of power. Pledge your weapon to her, unfailingly ever to be at her service." Roland draws the Phoenix Claw and kneels before Morgan, offering the sword to her. "Gracious and lovely one, accept my pledge of love to thee. I pledge this sword, as I pledge my soul, ever to be in your service. Like this blade shall my love be strong, like this steel shall my love be enduring. Accept it, O beloved one, for that which is mine shall also be yours." Morgan takes the Claw from his hands, and holds it to her forehead for a few moments. She then offers it back to him, bidding him to rise with a gesture. "My lord, I accept your pledge of love as I do accept the pledge of your blade. Thou knowest what is in my heart as I know what is in thine. The magic of my will, and of my love, shall ever be yours." Roland takes the blade, holds it to his heart, and concentrates. The blade winds around his arm and vanishes beneath his sleeve. Titania then speaks to Morgan. "If you dost truly desire, O Morgan, to marry this man, I bid you present to him a jewel of great value as token of the love you have for him." Morgan reaches up and unclasps a fine silver chain from around her neck. Dependant from the chain is a heart of amethyst, which seems to glow with a fire of its own. She kneels before Roland, offering up the stone with both hands. "Thou who art handsome and strong, accept my jewel, my treasure, as pledge that all which I am and all which I possess shall be yours. My love shall ever endure, and shall flourish as the vine and the tree." Roland takes the heart, touches it to his forehead for a moment. He then takes Morgan's hand, bidding her rise as he returns the jewel to her, placing it back around her neck. "My lady, I accept your pledge of love as I do accept the pledge of your jewel. Thou knowest what is in my heart as I know what is in thine. All which I have now, or shall have, shall ever be yours." They stand for a moment, hands still touching, gazing into each others' eyes. Oberon picks up a wand from the altar, and on it can be seen two rings. He holds it out to Titania, who grasps the other end, and says to the couple, "Place your right hands over this wand, and your rings, his hand over hers." They comply, and Titania's voice rings through the grove. "The cosmos through, in every part, One thing endures ... a loving heart. Above you are the stars Below you are the stones. As time passes, remember . . . Like a star should your love be constant, Like the earth should your love be firm. Possess one another, yet be understanding. Have patience each with the other, For storms will come, but they will go quickly. Be free in giving of affection and of warmth. Have no fear, and let not the ways or words Of the unenlightened give you unease. For the Light is with you, Now and always!" She pauses, and the Army of Light's psi-web is filled with the love radiating from the happy couple. Oberon looks at Morgan. "Is it your wish, Morgan Greywolf of Clann Fhaoilcheire, to become one with this man?" Morgan gazes lovingly at Roland. "Aye, it is." Titania speaks to Roland. "Is it your wish, Roland Phoenix of the Silver Shield, to become one with this woman?" "Always," Roland replies, his eyes never leaving Morgan's. Oberon looks at those assembled. "Does any say nay?" The sternness in his voice silences any who thought to make a sound in jest. Roland takes one of the rings off the wand, a white gold band with an interwoven fire and lightning design done as Celtic knotwork, and places it on Morgan's finger. "In the name of the Phoenix and the Light I pledge thee my troth, to love and cherish thee through all lifetimes, for even though our paths may later diverge, yet will I always be thy true friend, to love thee and lend thee aid and protection, by the power of the starry mill of heaven, beyond the imaginable reaches of time and knowledge." Morgan takes the other ring, a match for the one Roland has given her, and places it on Roland's finger. "In the name of the Triple Goddess I pledge thee my troth, to love and cherish thee through all lifetimes, for even though our paths may later diverge, yet will I always be thy true friend, to love thee and lend thee aid and protection, by the power of the starry mill of heaven, beyond the imaginable reaches of time and knowledge." Oberon raises his hands in blessing over the couple, as does Titania, who says, "Then as the Ancients are witness to this rite I now proclaim you husband and wife! Thus are thy hands fasted . . . The Two are One, the work of joy is done, and yet begun!" The happy couple kisses. The assembled guests cheer. Let the party begin! =========================== Date: Sat, 27 Sep 1997 23:24:55 -0700 (PDT) Subject: AAE Interlude: Wedding in Arcadia/disruption. Magic bolts are blocked by its shields. The YT-1300 does a tight barrelroll adn hard bank and returns for another apporach, this time with the bottom hatch open, and a form drops from it towards the wedding. Driss impacts with a very audible cracking of a couple bones but the 7-league boots keep him from getting pulverized. he is dressed in a flightsuit, but still bears his cloak and his rapier is as always at his side. "Hold! I have some unfinished business that must be taken care of before things continue." Bones set and healed enough to be stable, he makes his way confindently towards the couple. Disbelief and Rage are on Oberon's face but Titania seems to have a second sense about what is going to unfold (don;t women ALWAYS??) and lays a hand on his arm to hold him back. (OOC: Insert attempts to block Driss) Between his natural Agility and his boots, Driss is soon face to face with Morgan and Roland. They look into his face to figure otu what is going on, but it;s a complete blank emotionwise but a fire burns in his eyes. The Starship lands in a large clearing not too far away, and two humans, four wookies, a protocal droid and a sullustan disembark arms filled with some kind of equipment. Driss looks at Roland for what seems an eternity, and then moves his gaze to Morgan. When he finally speaks his soft tones shatter the tnesion like a dish. "Morgan. I look at you now and I still see that young lass in scottland oh so many decades ago. But she is gone. When I came to Quaren to help the Army of Light, I found myself looking for her. Looking for what might have been. How fortunes would have been different if only... well. that;s the past. And as I said. that lass is long gone. Now it is a warrior, an immortal, and a woman who stands before me." "In Quaren I wanted to change the past between us. to go back to how it could have been had I not run away. Had I been the one standing beside you today. I was so sure that I could make it happen that I acted like a child and a fool. I endangered the group, and you as I tried to prove myself... to myself. And then when I came back....To see the two of you..."He wipes away a few tears and stares at the ground silent for a moment. "Well I threw a tantrum. And once again possibly but the group in Danger. I wanted blood, but I knew you were not the sort of woman who would look kindly on my impaling my rival on the tip of a sword after I had already lost. So I went after the person responsible for causing the mess in Quaren, The Controller. And to make a long story short I let him escape and eneded up blown to subatomic particles inside a supernova, at least until Forg and his shipmates found me floating in space and rescued me." "But... but I;m disgressing. it's not hwy I came here. Long ago, for me, you told me that one day I would be a good man. But I think we both know that's a lie. I'll never be more than I am, a rogue, a con man and a theif. But... I wanted you to know that... I think you deserve a good man. And... I think you've found one. A man who is everything that I can never really be. But I can try." He reaches towards Morgan adn Roland. "And that's the other reason I;m here. To do the right thing and correct a misdeed of my past. Are you wondering how I found you here? When I granted Morgan's wish in Quaren, I added a peephole for myself so I could look in to what you were doing whenever I wanted. I want to close that now and forever. Inside the supernova I absorbed enough Chaos that I should be able to do this. If nothing else I have a lot more experience than the Godling." He touches their foreheads and the Chaos energy flows through him addint to what he has built, repairing, rebuilding...and soon it's done. "Now no one can ever break that bond, well except for Chaos. At least as far as I know of." Driss winces and grabs his side. "Now if You'll excuse me I still have some healing to do and some wounds are beyond even your powers Morgan. Oh and to get the ride I kinda had to promise the band they could play." Near the starship, the group of newcomers are assembling a small stage and instruments. > The happy couple kisses. > > The assembled guests cheer. > > Let the party begin! Taking that as thier cue, the wookies grab their instruments and take the stage. The lead singer is now holding what;s left of the Protocal droid who seems to have become a bit disassembled. The band starts up and the Portocal Droid starts singing translating the Wookies. Hey Hey we're the wookies! And People say we Wookie around But we're too busy singing To put htis poor droid down! His arms are our drumsticks His legs make hte microphone stand if it wasn;t for him, We wouldn;t have much of a band... The young human is just lookign around at everythign in awe, The sullustan is dancing wiht some Elves, and the older human is near the bar. he and an elf reach for a bottle at teh same time and he waggles his fingers and says softly, "This is not hte bottle you're looking for. move along, move along." The elf moves away in a daze, and the old Jedi snatches up the bottle, hug it to his chest and sneaks away towards a table near Driss to start drinking. =========================== Date: Sun, 28 Sep 1997 00:09:21 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: AAE Interlude: Wedding in Arcadia/disruption. This despite the tuxedo is one of these recent jobs that comes without a tie. Come to think of it, there's something different about the Lensdragon and it isn't the reinassance-style bandolier he's wearing across his torso nor is it the, intricate, purple-red sword that hangs off it at his waist, all of which he's wearing as the happy couple's honor guard (along with Sythea). It isn't until the ritual part of the cerimony is over and the celebration is underway, with Fast Eddie tickling the keyboard on the upright which he somehow got here from the Place, that people suddenly begin to realize what's different about the Lensdragon. He isn't! He isn't a dragon, that is. Oh, it's Dhyrclhanc all right. Morgan, Roland and Fuzzy are all reacting to him as if he was. His psi-signature on the CAoL's psi-web is the same. Well... it is a little bit different but that could be explained by his new psi-abilities and magickal knowlege. However, his form is not that of a dragon, albeit an 8-foot tall one, he appears to be a humaniod pteradactyl the color of the rising sun, and his eyes now have irises, steel-blue irises flecked with gold. Durring the ceremony Nimrod "hovered" at the back of the group in his guise of hispanic construction worker "Nicholas Hunter". Durring the reception, Dhyrclhanc takes several turns dancing with Sythea and with Morgan. However, at some point he steps up to the happy couple and says: "Roland, this is for you," as he reaches into his jacket's inside breast-pocket and draws out a large, disc-like, golden medalion and chain. The medalion, itself, has the image of a rising bird-of-flame super-imposed over a darker egyptian pyramid. "We both serve diffent versions of Bennu, the Phoenix, so I thought it fitting that we each have one of these." Then he addresses the both of them, "We three are linked by bonds stronger than even I could've 'eer imagined before. To represent this bond, as well as reinforce it, I bestow upon all of us these three rings." He once again reaches into his inside jacket breast-pocket and retrieves a small ring case. Inside are three, identical, brass-bronze alloy rings. "Both symbolically and metaphysically these are the three-rings-which-are-one." he says as he withdraws each ring and carefully gives one to Morgan, then one to Roland, then one to himself. "Now, no matter how far appart we three may become, we shall always know how, and where, to find one another." He turns, now facing Roland. "Brother, in the begining I refered to you and Morgan as my foster sibs partly in jest. Then, you said by doing this I did the two of you an honor. Now I say to you, sir, 'nae. *You*, sir and lady," he turns to face both of them again, "Do *Me* the honor of accepting *Me* as *Your* foster sib!" A tear trickles down the side of his face. "I no longer know if I'll ever see Yrth again, but now I know that I no longer need to. My family is here, with the two of you and the CAoL. Now, I know I'll always have a home to return to here." With that, he hugs the both of them closely to him. Dhyrclhanc is sipping a chocolate chocolate-chip mint ice cream soda (that's an ice-cream float to some of you) at the Bar. After he finishes his drink, he wispers something to Jake, who's acting as back-up bartender, along with Mike and the Padre, because of the crowd. Jake then handed the "Lens-T'Skrang" a dark brown rectangular solid, which the reptilian Lensman then hands to Morgan , saying, "There's your toast." and heads for the chalk-line where the real dedications are about to begin. Once ariving at the chalkline, however, he realizes he's once again empty handed. "Hey Mike," he yells back to the bar, "How about a shot glass with a little less than eight onces of brandy?" As if by magic, the drink materialized on the bartop. Then, Dhyrclhanc concentrates and the glass floats over to his open hand and he takes a sip. "Who knows?" he mutters to himself, " I may get the hang of this TK thing yet." Then, louder, after getting everyone's attention "Honestly, and seriously, I've only met most of you in the CAoL, what seems to me to be, very recently. However, here I am and here we are." he takes another small sip. "And my ordinary verboseness fails me." which falls on silence. A long pause, durring which Dhyrclhanc seems to just drink up the vision of Morgan and Roland. "Ah, to Hades with it. To the Happy Couple(tm), may they find as much joy in themselves and in each other from Now until the End of Time!" He downs the rest of the drink and joyfully hurls it into the Fireplace. In a somewhat chiding voice, "Rhia, child, could you perhaps look like yourself when you present your kinswoman with her wedding gift? It would be nice." John turns back to the wedding couple, "Sorry about that. I'm trying to get her to stop doing that. After we got her a set of fingerpaints, she was painting stripes on herself and running around pretending to be the local wildlife." Rhiannon cast a scandalized glance at John, "Rhia, would you come meet your kinswoman?" She moves up next to John and curtsies, "Fare thee well, Lady Morgan and Lord Roland, on this most happy and blessed day." She fishes through her handbag, and pulls out a pink cube, "This is for you." She holds it out to Morgan. John chimes in, "It's a control cube. It will store and hold items in subspace for you. After Roland has had time to speak with his idol, Hal walks up. "Could I have a moment with the kid, Barry?" The Flash shrugs and steps aside. Hal thinks for a moment, then shrugs and holds out his hand. "I know you've got more rings than you know what to do with, kid, but I didn't think you'd mind one more." Roland gapes, astonished, at the green glow in Hal's hand. A Power Ring. "But-but-" "Don't give me any 'I'm not worthy' nonsense. Honest and fearless, that's the code of the Lantern. And you qualify." Hal sticks the ring in Roland's hand. "Besides, including a portion of the oath of Liana of M'Elu in your wedding was a nice touch." Iris laughs. "That's our Hal, as dependable as a train and half as subtle." She holds out a pouch. "I don't know the first thing about magic, but this thing belonged to the Dr. Alchemy. I know it works, at least." Iris shrugs. "I'm told it turns one element into another. Why he didn't just turn lead into gold and retire is beyond me..." She smiles. "Anyway, the Guardians said that this sort of thing could be useful." Iris impulsively hugs the new bride. "It's not easy being married to a superhero. But if you love him, it's worth it." Morgan accepts the bag and puts her arm around the shoulders of the thunderstruck Roland. "Thank you, Mrs. Allen, and he's definitely worth it." More softly, she adds, "We are _not_ a codfish, Roland," as she raises her fingers to his chin and gently closes his mouth. As Roland nods to the Green Lanterns by way of thanks, Their Majesties walk up to the couple. The nearby noise level drops dramatically. Only Fast Eddie's music is still readily audible. Morgan and those of fantasy realms bow. Roland and the supers nod. "You have the look," Oberon rumbles in a not-unfriendly voice, "of a couple ready to 'ditch the party.' Not that I-oof-we can blame you," he adds, glancing significantly at Titania's elbow. "For we two, at least, only one thing remains." "Your Majesties, if you mean a gift, allowing us to hold the wedding here-" Roland begins. "You _don't_ want to finish that sentence," Oberon chuckles, though a faint hint of shadow plays around his eyes. Roland wisely goes silent. ^Smart man,^ Morgan sends on their private link. Outwardly, she just smiles. "Now then." Oberon grins indulgently. Roland blinks-then a familiar ball of pure energy strikes him in the chest yet again. "Me first! Me first!" "Hello, Psyche," Roland coughs. Morgan tries-and fails-to suppress a chuckle. "Here!" Psyche holds out something too bright for the groom to ascertain its origin with the item three centimeters from his nose. Morgan, however, can tell that it is a sphere. At first glance, it can be mistaken for a snowglobe, but on second glance, the Heart of Arcadia can be seen in all its glory within it. The vista changes as a dragon floats lazily overhead...and within the globe, as well. "I made it all by myself," the young princess says proudly. Roland pats Psyche on the head, squinting to avoid being temporarily blinded. "It's truly a work of art." "It's beautiful, Psyche, thank you. We'll put it on the mantle as soon as we have one," Morgan adds. Titania just chuckles. Oberon gives her a knowing glance, then looks back to the happy couple. "And now," he says from the depths of his lungs, "for my gift." The entire Heart darkens for a moment, as if a brief brownout had occurred. Oberon smiles. Roland blinks, the second lighting change throwing him off. "What..." Morgan pulls herself more closely to Roland and sends over the link with a nervous chuckle, <*If the man were not giving us a wedding present, I'd be worried.*> "Just a bit of glamour for your blades. They'll always return to you now." Oberon's smile deepens with the confidence only an archmage can exude. "_Always._ Think on the name of Phoenix Claw or...or...Morgan, what _is_ the name of your blade?" the Faerie King asks. Morgan blinks. "It hasn't told me a name yet," she explains. "Aramegil," Titania says suddenly. "It means noble sword," she explains to those who don't speak Elvish. "Aramegil," Morgan repeats quietly, her hand on the hilt of the dagger at her waist. "I, and it, like it. Thank you, Majesty." "Or Aramegil," Oberon continues, as if he had not missed a beat, "and the blade will return to you. In your hand if appropriate, within easy reach if not. The enchantment will create a 'secret compartment' nearby if no ready hiding place presents itself. You will instinctively know this location, of course." "Of course," Roland replies, nodding without any clue of the metaphysics involved. "Only one thing remains," Titania begins, and her hands come together in front of her. There are no flashes of light or shaking of the foundations of reality. Only the _sense_ of power is there...and it is enough. She hands Morgan a small silver carving of a cottage. "This is a bit of enchantment as well. Now you have a mantle on which to place Psyche's gift." Both immortals blink and look at the sculpture. "The key phrase is 'homestead.' When one of you speaks the word, the talisman becomes a home fitting to the realm in which it is called upon. You have a certain amount of control over the form the dwelling takes, but enough of the magicks used involve the Law of Similarity that it will never be too greatly altered from the default state." Titania smiles. "Somehow, I did not think either of you would object. If nothing else, you have... a mobile home." ^Oh Light help us, she puns too...^ Roland groans, and wonders if it would be a capital crime to throw peanuts at the Queen of Faerie. Fortunately, Roland is saved from the dilemma of risking capital punishment as Oberon sprinkles the Faerie Queen lightly with a filtered gateway to the peanut universe. The magnitude of the gift, and the sight of their Queen punning, has reduced the Heart to dead silence. "Mommy, why are you wearing peanuts?" Psyche asks innocently as the gate closes. "Because your daddy is silly," Titania replies calmly. Psyche blinks and nods solemnly with the understanding small children have for the logic of the bizarre. From somewhere in the crowd, a stifled snicker is heard, and the tension breaks as all the repressed laughter is released. As the giggles die down, Roland sends, ^Well whadda you know, an RV-a recreational vestibule.^ Morgan just stares at her beloved, who quickly sends, ^ILoveYouMorganPleaseDon'tHurtMe.^ Morgan sighs, and returns her attention to Titania, who is regally _not_ picking peanuts out of her hair. From time to time one vanishes, apparently of its own accord, however. "'Thank you' seems so inadequate...." Morgan trails off. Titania beams. "As it does in response to having one's home rescued. It is more than adequate." Morgan blushes. "And that, as they say, is that," Oberon says pleasantly. "Do not worry, the party will move along quite well for some time. Find a nice pocket ficton in which to spend your wedding night." The assembled throng is hugged more or less in unison (ask Jake about the logistics thereof) and Barry tosses Roland the keys to the Cosmic Treadmill. Cans have already been tied to the back, and a 'Just Handfasted' sign has been attached to the console. "We'll be off for a while, but you know how to reach us if you need us." Morgan takes Roland's hand, then stops suddenly. "Oh, wait!" Morgan scans the reception for the largest concentration of females. "Catch!" she shouts, as she lofts her bouquet in their general direction. She suddenly gets a surprised look on her face and gasps as her skirts move and her garter flies into the air, heading in the direction of the largest nearby concentration of males. Which just happens to be the CAoL. (Have fun, guys!) Roland sweeps Morgan into his arms and leaps onto the treadmill, his hyperspeed activating its ficton-hopping powers just as the garter reaches its highest arc. The two fade out, embraced in a passionate kiss. (OOC: The party can go on for as long as people feel like posting to it. Cutter and Leetah are staying in Arcadia while we're on our honeymoon, and may be willing to go play with someone if they're asked. We're going to be gone for the weekend; see everyone on Monday! ) =========================== Date: Fri, 10 Oct 1997 23:33:39 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: AAE Interlude: Off to the honeymoon On Fri, 10 Oct 1997 23:30:17 -0700 (PDT) In Message # 00001797 fuzzy said: > On Fri, 10 Oct 1997 09:11:39 In Message # 00001796 > "L.J. Knytt smiles, watching the couples on the dance floor. He went over to the buffet, revealing a small zip-lock bag and slipped some of the smaller items in the bag for Pyewackett, who was asleep back home, being too tired to attend. With one last look around, a hole in reality opened behind Knytt and he slipped through. /See you all later,/ he sent to the other members of the CAoL, /Enjoy the party./ The gateway closed as Knytt's mind turned to happy thoughts of his own. =========================== Date: Sat, 11 Oct 1997 18:34:02 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: AAE Interlude: Off to the honeymoon On Sat, 11 Oct 1997 18:26:37 -0700 (PDT) In Message # 00001803 In alt.callahans Post # 00000019 "P. Through this ceremony The Stardragon has looked on, glad that its friends are happy, but wondering what all the commotion was about. It knows that the ceremony is important to Morgan and Roland and that is enough for it. When Driscoll's ship showed up it thought that this was just another part of the ceremony, then the defenses of Avalon opened up on it. It considered blasting the ship from the sky, but a quick scan of the ship showed Driscoll aboard, so it waited. ===========================
