It looks rather like an idealized plumb bob on a chain. He holds the end of the chain in one hand and flosts into the air. When he's about 5 feet off the ground a detailed 3d image of the planet takes form centered on him. It's about 10 feet across. Nemo closes his eyes and the bob points straight out from him. He starts spinning madly inside the globe. Quickly the spin turns into oscilations with the frequency getting shorter and shorter. When he stops, the bob is pointing at a portion of the globe. A golden line appears pointing from the center of the globe along the line the bob was pointing. He repeats the process again, only a blue line appears this time. Next he floats thru the globe to a point above where the Shasta Valley is represented and repeats the process. Nemo opens his eyes and stands up. "The intersection of the lines are the positions of your friends. Sil for the golden line, John for the blue line." =========================== Date: Sun, 7 Dec 1997 05:18:11 -0800 (PST) Subject: Re: AAE IV: Blind leads On Sun, 7 Dec 1997 07:07:38 -0600 In Message # 00002294 In alt.callahans Post # 00000507 Michael Jon Knight said: >On Sat, 6 Dec 97 22:52:28 -0800 In Message # 00002290 > In alt.callahans Post # 00000503 Roland X said: > > (OOC: The coordinates that the X-Window were opened to were the >ones the CAoL were provided with by the hologram.) /Father, we have completed the conversion of Grandmother's and Great-grandfather's self-location program to our operating system./ the twins send in stereo, /We are beginning to compile a map of the places we have visited. Perhaps... > we might forge an alliance of our own. I do not think > that my mentor would object, seeing how our efforts > would also further its own goals..." The Controller is silent and motionless for several long minutes as he stares at Thorne. The sight gives a perculiar discomfort, as the mechanical face stares on unmovingly. A human face can be read by even the slightest muscle twitches and eye movements to figure out what thoughts cross through the mind behind them. But from The Controller there is nothing except the knowledge that behind the metal lies a highly intelligent and analytical mind studying and thinking intensely before answering. Finally he turns to the control pannel again and begins working the controls before answering. "You presume much, and I must admit you are not far from being correct. I have believed for a long time that the key to the destruction of hte Army of Light lies in Roland. He and Morgan are the heart and soul as well as much of the firepower of the group. The one known as Stardragon has mroe power but not the wisdom of how to use it. Knytt has a great deal of power as well, but he can die just like anyone else. For that matter so can Xzerrion. The Stranger, Fuzzy and the one known to them as nemesis are still mysteries to me. Driscoll's weakness is his mind, as is his sidekicks. Mortality is a curse that demands eventual destruction, so they are all eventually doomed. The immortals therefore are the ones that must demand attention first. Driscoll and Roscoe are outsiders. They do not belong to the rest of the group. Their only link to the group really is Morgan that I have found. Destroying Morgan will cause them to drift away. But I still do not know enough about her physical abilites to kill her. But her mind is as vulnerable as any other, and perhaps even more so. "You wonder what Roland is to me? He is the key to disabling the heart of the Army of Light. Destroy him, and it will wound Morgan to the quick. She will lust for revenge of course, but that almost always tends to make one sloppy and easily blindsided. She will fall quickly once Roland is gone. And when she is gone, there will be little to keep Driscoll and Roscoe there except maybe some small sense of loyalty. And Driscoll's past shows that loyalty from he is a short feeling at best. Thus a large number of their immortals as well as the bulk of their unifying force will be destroyed like dominoes falling in a row." He turns to face Throne again. "The robot was mearly a project I have been working on since Quaren. But recently a much more damaging foe has arrisen. You wish an allience and offer it in good faith, then I will agree. I will help you destroy Roland and the rest of the Army of Light, but first I ask your help in ending my problem." The screen shows a still of the battle in LA. It zooms up to isolate a sinlge person and blows up the picture, auto enhancing it as it gets larger. "Iron Man. You possess powers I can not ever possess Thorne. You have ways of doing things that are much more efficent than technology can ever be. I ask of that help now. We needn't attack Iron Man however. All we need do is reveal his true nature to the Army of Light without revealing ourselves in the process. They will destroy him for me. I am more than sure of the hate in their hearts. They will rip him to shreds the second they find out and he will worry me no longer. So, are you agreed?" =========================== Date: Sun, 7 Dec 1997 19:03:30 -0800 (PST) Subject: Re: AAE 4: Days of Future Past Remembered & Etc (Very Long!) Struggling to raise it over his head with two hands he mumbles the words he finds etched on teh back. > Following the path of the projectile-kitten backwards, Legion is > standing there. > She simply nods to the group. Roscoe is about to greet Legion when he overhears Squee. Turning to see what the boy is up to he screams over the link as he recognises the amulet. [SQUEE!!!!!!!!!!!! STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!]. He shifts into the form of a mongoose and races to snatch the amulet from Squee, but it's too late. Next to Squee a hole appears from which a 50' high pillar of flame leaps. Inside the pillar of flame a dark figure becomes more and more distinct as arms and legs and batlike wings define themselves. Long serated claws and fangs follow suit looking too bright againts the black scaley skin. "Free! FREE! You dare summon me and have not even the most basic of spells to imprison me! Finally I can be free. With your death I will have the accursed amulet and no one can have power over Asmodeous again!!" As he speaks Roscoe reaches Squee adn tears the amulet out of the boy's hands. Himself shifting to his humanoid form he begins reciting the incantation to send Asmodeous away again but barely utters the first few syllables when Asmodeous rips his claw through Roscoe's form. "You dare to try to send the Lord fo the 9th plane of hell away but you will serve me instead!!" Roscoe drops the amulet and shifts, eyes glowign bright red. he grows roughly into the form of a 15' grizzly bear, but instead of fur, fire licks across his skin. Claws and teeth grow long and serrated like Asmodeous's. he snarls and turns towards the closest being, Nemo. But then he stops in midair before a blow can even come close the striking. "tch tch tch I don't think so." Says Driscoll softly as he leans against a nearby tree. "Infact I liked him better as he was." Driss desn't move in the slightest but Roscoe changes back to normal. Asmodeous turns to confront his challenger, and as he sees who it is he cringes backl in fear. "No No please!! I have given tribute to you ancient one! I have caused much havok! Please let me free myself from my torment!" Driss jsut shakes his head adn reaches for a branch on the tree. Pulling it down there is the sound like rushing water and Asmodeous is pulled towards his hole. Once there he spins faster and faster adn sinks down it yelling his outrage until he is gone from sight. Then the hole closes and all traces fo Asmodeous are gone. "That reminds me. nature calls!" Driss turns and walks into the tree vanishing from sight. Roscoe grabs teh amulet and moves to teh rest of the jewelry quickly. "I _told_ Driss to get rid of this damn thing. What else did you drag out of there?" "I foudn them there' mine give them..." Squee's protests are cut short by a glare from Roscoe. [you are in _BIG_ trouble right now Do you _really_ want to try pushing your luck right now??? Inside,a pea-sized gold ball floats in the center, with three crystals set into the ball, one red, one green, one blue, forming a triangle. From under the cloak also comes a black sphere, half the size of a golf ball, which Knytt tosses into the air. It shoots upwards into the stratosphere. Knytt closes his eyes and waves a hand in a fluid motion over the crystal, stops suddenly, then traces a new direction around the ball. The crystals in the sphere glow, then an image forms inside the crystal. Knytt and the twins, still within the "safety" of the cloak, watch Squee's progress, as a red arrow traversing a map of the valley. Raver and any other pursuers, are displayed as blue and other colored arrows. The arrows represent the direction the person is facing and move three-dimentionally in the topographical valley map. /He won't get far, Roscoe. The controller pushes a flashing button on the control console and replies in a very off-handed sort of tone, "He was me." A moment later a protocal droid comes in carrying a young girl about 11 or 12 years old. "This will be the first part of my plan. The creation of an oracle that will bring the Army of Light closer to realizing the origins of Iron Man while at the same time tormenting him by making him unable to stop her. She is after all but a child. What justification can a 'hero' have to slay her outright and keep her from delivering her message. To do so would revleal more than she could ever tell." He studies her face for a moment, wiping away some of hte dirt around her face. "The Protocal droid has already performed a partial mind wipe on her, erasing her memories but not things such as motor and language skills. Even a psion searching her mind will not be able to tell where she came from. "I _was_ going to use a cybernetic implant to control her actions and prgram her messages, but that can be detected and even traced. I wish you to use your abilities to program her. I will also need them to help mask the x-windows that will cause her appearances and disappearances. Just to be sure though I will route them through several stop points and make it harder to trace back to this dimention. Priestly magic I'd say would have a better chance of working with them on than Wizardly would. But also as an ironic side effect the officers holding the bands would be somewhat protected from any spells you threw at them right now) A few minutes later a police car arrives and two unarmored officers step out. They confer with teh sergant a minute and then he and the female PSI officer walk over to the circle of SWAT members and their objects of attention. "This is PSI Lemar. She will be the one playing polygraph for you today. She is legally bound to look no place in your minds that you have not given permission for and any information found in your mind is inadmissable in court. She's agreed to give you a verbal pledge if you need more." (after convincing them of her good faith) PSI Lemar touches the temples of the drow and an electricity jumps from her fingertips causing them to jump slightly at first contact, but then it becomes warm and soothing. The questions are simple. Who are you. Where are you from. Why are you here. And when they are done, she breaks contact and nods to the sergant. then speaking softly, "They have told no lies." "Awww Shi... My kid reads those comics. Hi Kenny! Guess who I arrested today! No I can't do that. Ok, here's what we can do from here. I can take you in, which will lead to a lot of contraversy, publicity and attention which I know I really don't want to deal with. And because of it it could take a year to find an impartial grandy jury to even see if it's going to trial. Or, this meeting never happened. I'll report that our investigation proved you all are extradimentional travelers, that throws it to INS to find and deport you. Paperwork transfer will take a couple of days at best, and it'll probably be a week before they come looking for you. Unless you go doing something foolish to draw attention to yourself that is. That's the best that I can do. Almost all of the officers still here are mine. they'll do as I order.
