A few notes

If you hadn’t already noticed, this blog [i.e. “Reality Check,” not “Relics”] is pretty much dead :-).

My new blog is on LiveJournal — Morgan’s Musings. It’s not as political as this one, though I’m not avoiding politics, either.

Since SquawkBox looks like it’s discontinuing it’s free service soon, I’ve copied the two whole comments people have made via it and turned them into hard-coded links from the relevant posts. If you have any further comments on any of my entries, please feel free to email me (see the link under the wolf pic).

Enough with the milestones

Or maybe they’d be better called "mill stones."

November 2, 2003 — the second deadliest day of this fiasco for American troops. Sixteen dead per the Iraq Casualty Count, topping the 30 deaths on March 23.

May all the gods grant that by next year’s Day of the Dead, we can comfort ourselves in the knowledge that the pointless deaths have stopped. We have no such comfort this year.

Another milestone we can live without

As of the 27th, October has the highest hostile casualty count since "major combat operations" ended — 29 to July’s 28. It looks like July will continue to hold the overall post-Lincoln casualties/month record with 46, since October is currently at 38. At least, we can hope and pray.

Checking in

Between Real Life and posting more opinion-oriented bits on the Justice Log, there’s not been much to say here. The spin goes on, as do the casualties. I may not be posting here, but I’m trying to keep my casualty calendar up to date. It’s an almost daily task, more’s the pity…

Like Watching a Train Wreck

Watching early election returns, it strikes me that it takes a special kind of idiot to vote for someone who publicly pulled out of the race.

At 8:38pm, with 10.6% of the precincts in, Arianna Huffington has 20,226 votes, Peter Ueberroth has 6,183, and Bill Simon has 2,209. They’re running 5th, 6th and 8th respectively.

I weep for my state.

What a Tangled Web

While we wait to see what the results of today’s voting are, I’m playing catch-up on the various email updates I get from some of my favorite sites. David Corn, the man who originally brought the Plame leak to our attention (even if it took the mainstream media several weeks to catch up) has a wonderful analysis of the lies that are catching up with the Bush White House.

More on the Wilson/Plame Flap

Rather than add a lot of commentary, I’m mainly doing my bit on this by compiling a list of relevant articles. I think I have everything up through MSNBC bringing the story into the limelight, but after that I’m picking and choosing. There are so many, they get redundant after a while. However, I’m making a concerted effort to stick to facts. They, in the long run, will speak for themselves.

Wilsongate? We can hope.

Not much to add to this one, but here’s hoping this is the one the Bushies won’t be able to sweep under the rug :-).

The body-politic may be willing…

…But how much flesh is another story.

A reminder of which coalition member nations have sent troops into Iraq (link was to http://apnews.excite.com/article/20030926/D7TQ81V00.html):
