Creating a Brighter Tomorrow with the Power of Today!

July 19, 2008: Quasar returns — with a vengeance!

— Quasar Returns, Saves Auxiliary Team

Hilo, Hawaii: Team Tomorrow member Quasar, real name unknown, reappeared at the Hilo Utopia facility today during a battle between the elites who had allegedly assaulted him and a team of Team Tomorrow Auxiliary members. Elites Prometheus and Headhunter were recaptured; the whereabouts of the remaining three mercenaries are unknown.

"I was lost at first," began Quasar during his only public statement since his reappearance. "By the time I knew where I was, the Hilo embassy was the closest place I could find. When I saw the fight...you saw the rest. Excuse me."

Auxiliary member Melissa 'Meteorette' Barton had more to say. "We got a tip that they were in the Hilo area, and went looking for them. They found us first. We were getting our heads handed to us. The irony is, 'Q' kept telling us how important teamwork is. We laughed and said he read too many comic books as a kid.

"Anyway, Headhunter knocked me down pretty fast, Prometheus had Firefly cornered, and Totentanz — hell, Totentanz was just tearing through anything that moved. I didn't recognize the other two, but they were confident as all hell. They had us scattered and confused, and Prometheus was scaring the [bleep] out of me saying he was going to 'leave his mark' on Firefly for Q to remember. That's when a beam slammed (Prometheus) into a wall. Everybody looked up then. It was Quasar, natch, looking madder than I've ever seen him. He fired a flare blast, knocked the guy with the black wings out of the sky, and gave us a maneuver order. I won't say which one, but it sure as hell worked."

When asked about Prometheus, Meteorette smiled. "Oh. Yeah. Nullbrain got back up and started shooting at Q. Q just _looked_ at him, and all that fancy equipment Prometheus had just curled back in on him. Then Q pumped another blast into him, and Prometheus stopped screaming. It was about then that Totentanz and his buddies figured that the better part of valor was a pretty damn good idea."

Damages are estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands, but according to Hawaiian and Utopian estimates, the property damage was light given the ferocity of the nova battle, and the complete lack of civilian injuries was noted several times.

Prometheus recovered enough to have his attorney issue the following statement on his behalf following his incarceration. "The entire incident was precipitated by a bunch of node-powered children whose concept of combat was apparently formed while watching Scooby-Doo. We were attacked with lethal force and responded in kind, within our legal rights. I intend to file an injunction against Utopia for this flagrant violation of my rights, and expect lawsuit proceedings against both Utopia, and Quasar for use of excessive force, to begin within the month. I expect, and indeed urge, my fellow elites to follow in kind."

Utopia spokesman Joji Hidaki, the Assistant Director of Public Relations, issued the following response. "We have conclusive evidence that the elite group that attacked Quasar deliberately led the Auxiliary team in question into an ambush with intent to kill. Security around a Utopia embassy is very tight, and preliminary satellite data confirms our findings. I understand that the Hawaii District Attorney's office intends to charge Prometheus with one count of attempted rape, seven counts of attempted murder and seven counts of conspiracy to commit murder, and in the absence of a death penalty, to seek a sentence of life imprisonment without possibility of parole. As for the supposed lawsuit against Quasar, it is patently specious. Even ignoring Quasar's impeccable record and reputation, if he had used excessive force, Prometheus would be in no condition to be issuing statements, let alone beginning a lawsuit."
