She can "see" into hyper-space, astral space, N-Space, and inter-universal space (again, as she wants to concentrate). In the background she can "hear" a conversation. ^No! Don't destroy the whole planet. That might be just what he wants.^ A feminine voice she hasn't heard before says. ^Well it would get the blockage out of the way, and clear the field, for battle. Besides, it would destroy those Base Stars.^ The mechanical voice of Dragon's Bane answers. ^Yes, and all those Vipers and Star Furies too. If you must, use a sun tunnel.^ The feminine voice counters. A moment later, and Zia, through the sense of perception that Dragon's Bane is feeding her, senses something akin to a hyper-spacial tunnel form. One end is in the core of the local star, the other at the center of one of the Cylon Base Stars. That Base Star becomes an expanding cloud of gas, instantly. The target locus then shifts, into the center of another Base Star, and another Base Star is destroyed. (OOC: He will have a VERY hard time doing it, since the hull proper is neutronium, in a single peice.) All the weapons ports along the side of Dragon's Bane closest to the Eddoran ships, fire first at one, then at the other. The energy hitting those ships, is not much different from what it would recieve if it got hit by a star core, and with 100 times the strike power of the Galactic Patrol Primaries (that is being inertialess would not help). The Eddoran ships kind of flicker and vanish. Blown to cosmic dust. Then individual weapons target individual cybervorlons fighters. Each second, each vorlon fighter is hit with the equivilent of a 100 Megaton bombs worth of energy. They don't last long. Then all the weapons turn on Amazo. (OOC: What happens when he gets hit with that kind of energy?). > Psycho sighs, invading the Dragon's Bane's 'brain' > telepathically. *Such a one-track mind, that Amazo, eh? The mind answering him, is at least as strong as any Eddoran he (Psycho) has encountered. Then Dragon's Bane strikes back, with a mental thrust, that would kill Gharlane instantly (please note that Mentor himself could have killed Gharlane either in Triplanetary, or First Lensman). Then a second mind (definately female) blasts him with a thrust, that is just as powerful. =========================== Date: Tue, 4 Aug 1998 00:14:25 -0700 (PDT) Subject: RE: AAE IV: Beginning of the End On Tue, 4 Aug 1998 01:58:00 -0500 Zia Said As CAoL Message # 00005344 :On Mon, 3 Aug 1998 17:09:41 PST :Nemo Said As CAoL Message # 00005333 :> On Mon, 3 Aug 1998 14:38:43 -0500 :> Zia Said As CAoL Message # 00005328 : :^I don't expect there to be very much "splash", at least not in : quantities that can't be avoided. The Velvet glove manuevers so that one of the cruisers winds up crossing the transpon beam. That creates a *very* brief "short" across the beam that is drawing power from the core of the star. The cruiser becomes a rapidly expanding cloud of vapor. A second is *rammed* by the VG, with about the results you'expect from a brontosaurus stepping on an aluminum beer can. The VG's hull has a "small" dent from the impact. (BTW, the VG is routinely making manuevers at multiple *thousands* of gravities) The Velvet Glove's shields, being powered by the star, hardly even react to the beams from the other cruisers. The reverse isn't true. One cruiser is struck by a gravity pulse that collapses it to a black hole. And a nanosecond later, the quantum hole detonates in a burst of Hawking radiation. The remaining cruiser is grabbed by a tractor beam and hauled inside the Velvet Glove's outer shields. Shortly after that, Nemo knows everything that it's crew ever knew. And as their own minds convict them for their crimes, he nudges them into nightmares that punish them as they deserve. Any useful/important info so gleaned is passed on to the appropriate parties. > Gharlane nods. "Send your best telepaths to our side of the > gate-at a safe distance from the edges-and increase the mental > signal. Once we control their leaders, we will control them all. Oh, > and destroy the Cylons once we have a beachhead. They strike me as > unreliable." Nemo sends: *This is not your universe. Leave or face the consequences.* > Six more Base Stars are disgorged from hyperspace, directly into > the raging dogfight, and begin launching more Raiders. Those on board the Velvet Glove feel a surge of power (those with the proper abilities will recognize an interdimensional gate), and then hear over the intercom: "All fighters attack at will." This is repeated in another language. A very *strange* language. And hundreds of fighters appear outside the Velvet Glove. Their ships have an odd spindle shape (recognizable as General Products #2 hulls[2] by those familiar with such). They immediately take off at thousands of gravities, but unlike the Velvet Glove, there's no hint of inertial dampening fields. Nemo comments: "I called in some old friends from the Meskilinite Navy."[3] [1] Unununium is element 111, just below gold on the periodic table. It was discovered in 1994. [2] General Products hulls are from Larry Niven's Known Space universe. They are basicly artifically stregthened molecules. As such they are virtually immune to physical damage, though they are transparent to gravity and to electromagnetic radiatiuon in the various frequencies used for sight by General Products' customers. [3] Mesklinites are inhabitants of the planet Mesklin or it's colonies. They are hydrogen breathing centipeds about 18 inches long. Mesklin is an incredibly massive planet with an equally incredible rotational period. Its day is 17.8 *minutes*. Because of this, surface gravity ranges from approximately 3.5 g at the equator to 800+ g at the poles. Mesklinite reaction times aren't *that* much faster than human, but they can withstand acceleration even stronger than their world's polar gravity with no ill effects. This makes them probably the best fighter pilots in any universe. They don't need to carry the extra equipment or power to counter accelerations that would turn other races into a thin smear of protplasm. (see "Mission of Gravity" and "Star Light" by Hal Clement for more details on Mesklin and Mesklinites) =========================== Date: Tue, 4 Aug 1998 05:36:49 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: AAE IV: Starfish-(I can't do it...) He is completely unharmed by the energies coursing around him. The 'casket,' OTOH, is obliterated. The being within looks like a cross between Sinestro (think red-skinned David Niven with melodrama-villain mustache) and Dracula. To energy senses, it comes across like a cross between Galactus and _Jadis._ The sunbeam's trajectory narrows into a foot-wide beam aimed directly into the thing's chest. Morden returns to the dome. Legion gently contacts Lyta at the first sign that Lyta is reaching out the CAoL. To a telepath who doesn't know Legion, the feeling of her mind has to be odd.... one mind making the contact, with faint echoes from the two dozen plus other minds that make her up. /Nemo... How are we set for Jewel Kryptonite? I/we would appreciate a small piece for my(our)self(selves), and a larger one for the B-5 telepaths./ [OOC: Assuming that he has plenty] Legion offers Lyta, [OOC: Assuming she accepts] A piece of jewel kryptonite roughly the size of a cantaloupe appears on an empty flat surface in the room. Any of the fighting 'path's thrown mentally off balance by the amplification have Legion guarding them, protecting them, and giving assistance if needed to find their mental 'place' again. [Meanwhile, back in the medlab] Legion holds out her hand, and a piece of jewel kryptonite the size of a large marble appears in it. She closes her hand tightly around the stone. "Doctor... what is the most powerful anti-nausea drug you have for humans... that does not cause any loss of mental acuteness? We probably could use an injection of it soon." =========================== Date: Wed, 5 Aug 1998 07:34:49 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Re: AAE IV: Bits On Wed, 5 Aug 1998 07:24:09 -0700 (MST) Driscoll Said As CAoL Message # 00005380 > On Tue, 04 Aug 1998 22:48:28 > Morgan and/or Roland Said As CAoL Message # 00005373 > > (OOC: And unless I'm mistaken, the first one is from the Robotech > universe-the predecessor to the RDF.) With that Driss opens up the cloak a bit to thrust his hands out.
