A man of undeterminate age wearing comfortably-cut leather steps out of the arc, which closes behind him. A stray bolt sizzles past his ear before he even has a chance to get his bearings, resulting in a combat-reflex dive for the pavement so quick as to look like apportation. "Bleeding Random *Chance*!" he mutters under his breath. "Try to put together a little family reunion, a full scale war breaks out before the appetizers. Typical." Rising into a low crouch, he takes a quick look around -- and freezes cold at the sight of Roland pummeling Kyle Rayner. His face screws up in a sudden spasm of old pain. "Ah, Light....why me?" Expression chilling into a resolute mask, he stands up and fastens his gaze on the combatants, pupils blazing with icy blue light. And Roland suddenly finds his attacks on Rayner....unravelled. Deflected and dispersed into harmless random energy patterns, as if by someone who knows his powers better than he does himself. A very powerful but gently padded force of TK shoves Roland and Rayner apart, and a very obvious shield shimmers up between them. The psychic odor of "referee" hangs very obviously in the air. "I have probably," murmers the newcomer, "just bought myself a *lot* of pain....." ================================= Date: Tue, 23 Feb 1999 16:35:25 -0800 (PST) Subject: Re: AAE V: Moving Right Along... "If you _could_ destroy it, I suspect every innocent on that world would bless you with their dying breath. And yet the Source itself holds back its omnipotent hand." Barda remains calm, studying Aurora with the practiced eye of one who has faced cosmic forces before. Orion continues to seethe, the Astro-Force building within him. (He's not preparing to strike just yet, but he _is_ making himself ready for any opportunity. And he's just powerful enough to make himself a nuisance. 8^) Plas, meanwhile, has chosen _not_ to spring into action. Instead, he blinks, walks over to the non-combatants, and leans on Morgan's shoulder conversationally. "So, gorgeous, is this what you do when you can't get seats for the pro-wrestling circuit?" Morgan slowly turns her head and regards him evenly. Aramegil not-so-slowly extends to its full size. Plas practically teleports his arm off her shoulder before she can do it for him. "Nothing to see here. Move along," she says, slightly amused, with a hint of Voice. "These _aren't_ the Droids I'm looking for," Plas agrees emphatically, briefly looking like a pink and red Stormtrooper. He then looks up. "Maybe one of the others can use some help." His eyes grow, literally, to the size of saucers at the sight of 'GL' getting kicked around by Blaze. "But it _sure_ isn't a job for Plastic-Man..." (OOC notes: FYI, most of the combatants (and non-combatant CAoLers) are on the roof, and the rest are well into the air. Morgan's response is deliberately general enough that he can clarify his location with a minimum of retconning if desired.) Most of the Metropolis citizens are moving quickly, but calmly, away from the fighting-they're used to it by now. Roland, at least (and probably several other CAoLers as well) has erected deflection screens to minimize the risk to civilians. >Rising into a low crouch, he takes a quick look around -- and freezes >cold at the sight of Roland pummeling Kyle Rayner. Expression >chilling into a resolute mask, he stands up and fastens his gaze on >the combatants, pupils blazing with icy blue light. > >And Roland suddenly finds his attacks on Rayner....unravelled. Roland has just enough time to blink in confusion at this effect before Morgan strikes, Prime and Entropy undoing the unravelling, and Life and Prime stunning the newcomer long enough for her to 'port opposite him. Roland smiles amusedly. "When did the JLA recruit Indiana Jones?" (OOC: If the newcomer's garb doesn't resemble Indy's, chalk it up to the fog.) He returns his attention to Rayner, though his surgical assault on the unfortunate ringwielder has lost most of its vehemence. Morgan blocks the stranger's path with the flat of Aramegil's blade, her brogue surfacing as she regards him. "I dinna know about your ways, but where _I_ come from, it's considered rude at best tae interfere in honorable combat." "You think it's...that easy?" Rayner groans, creating a monster truck above Blaze. "Who do you...think you're...dealing with?" Blaze looks around, almost laughing as he kinetically hotwires the too-accurate truck and steers it back at Rayner. "Let's see...two granite-headed New Gods...Captain Rubber Band...a _Batgirl_ wannabe...and a man wearing a crab on his face...offhand, I'd guess the Inferior Five." An almost gentle TK bolt sends spiderweb cracks through the offending mask, much of which flakes away. At this point, Blaze has clearly lost interest in pummelling Rayner. [Geez, this is sad. It was immensely satisfying at first, but this is like beating up on the 98 pound weakling. Even is he is obnoxious as all nass...] Blaze sighs. "Had enough yet?" "Tuh...try...me," Kyle says, slowly ringing up the killer foot from Monty Python. "Look, ring wielder, this is ridiculous. If I wanted to kill you, I could have done it a dozen different ways by now. If I wanted your _ring,_ I'd have taken it a while ago. This is pointless." Blaze tickles the foot with a force construct feather; though that doesn't really work, when the foot shoots down the 'feather' rips it apart before it can get near Blaze. "I _don't_ work for Parallax, in case it isn't painfully obvious by now." "Saw...you." Emerald forms waver and fade unborn. Rayner's eys narrow under the remains of the mask. "Ring's...bonded to me." Blaze chuckles. "Ever heard of Jack T. Chance? He had a ring bonded to him, too. Lobo trashed him, then when he couldn't get the ring off his finger, he just took the whole finger. If I-" A blue comet slams into the psion. The fog vanishes as if never there. /Roland!/ Morgan sends. Blaze comes to a stop well past the embassy. "Wh...?" Batman lands on the roof, using pressure points to revive Huntress. Wonder Woman, Flash, and Aquaman stand on a nearly transparent hoverboard, and Superman, Zauriel and Steel float around them, surveying the battlefield. "I trust," Superman says slowly, almost bemusedly, as Zauriel glides over to Aurora, "that someone can explain all this?" "he started it," Blaze says quietly, pointing at a suddenly smug Rayner... Mini-jim doesn't do any scanning, not having enough mass right now to maintain this form and form the sesnory equipment at teh same time. A scan of himself will show almost a balloon image made up completely of nanites, and a small voicebox. There are no internal parts, organs or even CPU noticable. > "Thank you for your assistance, Blaze," Sinestro intones from >Rayner's body as the yellow Power Ring forms fully on his off-hand. >The Anti-Monitor's shattered helmet (OOC: looks like a skull with a >blue life-support system attached) appears between Aurora and >Zauriel, immediately beginning to break down their existence through >pure entropy by its sheer presence. [New appearences seem to be enemies. analysis.] [Constructs from a power ring belonging to Sinestro, hence the yellow coloring.] [I thought his constructs were red?] [Another power ring wielder then?] [Follow analysis that yellow beings are from an Anti-Green Lantern being. Suggestions.] [Disruptions of energy forms to make them disintigrate.] [Too little mass for such a project. We would need the rest of our body and sensor scans of energy.] [Attack each as the form they bear.] [Probability high. Suggestions for first target?] [Superman's foe would be best. weakness is well known and even Blaze was defering to Superman's power. Suggest Kryptonite radation beam.] [We do not wish to hurt Superman though.] [Tight focus beam to affect only one being at a time.] [Searching memory for statistical data on green kryoptonite.] [Suggest changing chromatic spectrum to yellow.] [Reasons?] [Original suppositions, Yellow beings are anti-Green Lantern based. Constructs are thereby anti-based. To affect the anti-superman construct a yellow kryptonite ray may be more useful than a green.] [Prossessing. No Yellow kryptonite found on file. Only Gold.] [Examine radiation statistics on various colors of kryptonite, run a probability model on emination of yellow kryptonite.] [Prossessing. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Completed.] [Design radiation laser to above specifications.] All this take place in less than a couple of seconds, and mini-jim finally re-forms himself into what looks like a tiny remote controlled tank. The turrent moves to track the yellow Bizaro that is battling Superman. Once locked in, it fires and a beam of yellow light shoots forth, striking the Bizzaro. ================================= Date: Fri, 26 Feb 1999 20:05:42 -0800 (PST) Subject: Re: AAE V: The Purloined Lantern On Fri, 26 Feb 1999 22:46:35 EST Dane0R0A Said As CAoL Message # 00006476 >Morgan and/or Roland Said As CAoL Message # 00006466 > "Thank you for your assistance, Blaze," Sinestro intones from >Rayner's body as the yellow Power Ring forms fully on his off-hand. >The Anti-Monitor's shattered helmet (OOC: looks like a skull with a >blue life-support system attached) appears between Aurora and >Zauriel, immediately beginning to break down their existence through >pure entropy by its sheer presence. An eye blink later and her human form is replaced by the winged unicorn form she fought in near B5 just before the great Cosmic Reset. *FOOL,* she mentally shouts at the Anti-Monitor, just before she blasts him with a beam of mixed energy, containing mental, physical, and spiritual energies, each energy type carrying enough power to reduce a dead star to a hydrogen cloud and then ignite it as a star again. (Meanwhile...) Finding it a bit difficult to make Nimrod 'get' a joke, and distracted by her slowly returning abilities, Zia turns just in time to see the "un-Wonder Woman" and a few others smack the pavement. Unfortunately, the petite brunette trouble-hound Amberite is also a bit slow to attack someone who looks sort of like a 'hero', so the unAmazon lands a telling first blow of a haymaker. The evil double brings it smoothly from the ground right to the 'magic button' - that part of the chin boxer's call that for it's ability to put out the lights or stun. With a solid, almost metallic, sound, Zia is slammed back into the brick wall of the nearby emissary with an even louder impact than the fist's blow. Zia falls forwards, groggy but just enough still with things to catch herself on hands and roll rather than fall flat on her face. As she rolls over, her hands come up in a very weak guard. Her nose is bleeding, as is one ear. Dust trickles - several bricks are dislodged where Zia's torso met the wall. She sniffles once, the blood running a thin scarlet stream and mutters something half-broken by apparent soreness in her jaw that can only barely be made out, "... ha'ed supes... huits...." Then she casually boots the on-rushing clone over her head, falling back to give way. This propels it directly into the embassy's wall near where Zia's impact previously had damaged it. The clone of Wonder Woman, however, hits and falls through dislodged brickwork.... into whatever security might yet remain active. Zia tries to get both legs under her, and the knees going the same direction; picture any prize fighter just as the punches begin to get them weaving more than a little. "M'nston, doon let them 'it you. Bloody well .. (gasp) hit hard." She shakes her head, and seems to get her 'second wind' after a second. Her legs steady, and her blue gaze snaps into focus. Although the acute observer could note one pupil is more dilated than the other. "I don't think I _like_ you." Zia says to the part of the mob in Yellow colors that Raver decided to share out. She smiles, wickedly, and thumbs the blood trail from her nose. "And since you're not what I consider alive or sentient freewills..." Her katana slides out of nowhere as she reaches into 'katana space' ala Highlander. Noting Raver's technique, she decides to fight singly instead of try to join that gigantic swinging blade in mutual defense. "Come one, come all; to see the actress' dance of disintegration.
