"Please hold still for a moment, ma'am, and I'll dissolve these back into elementary particles -- and since this is the New Improved version, you won't even have to wash off any sticky adhesive residue." A small fib, since he created them on the spot, but the point of this patter is to talk her down *before* she gets loose. Hence the delay, since Roger could actually vanish the bindings in an eyeblink. "I'd like to apologize for leaving you, er, tied up for so long," he continues on as he begins at her feet and starts working his way up. "But we had a multi-threat combat situation in progress, and the material would have given you protection against any stray shots that went your way." There are some pretty heavy-duty psi shields built into the walls of the chamber. They seem to be a function of the metal itself. Whether Nemo can work around them probably depends on how much effort he puts into it, given his resources, I'd say yes. The chamber itself is very long and wide, about the size of a Dune Guild Freighter, but not as tall. About 1/100th of it is filled with cages, only those near this area have creatures in them. The older ones have skeletons, any checking will indicate that they died of old age. The walls of the chamber are very dense; it would take someone in the top levels of a supers verse to break through them. Nothing resembling blast doors on the exits, though. It's basicly a network of corridors, with some larger rooms. Anything else I can provide? >surface thoughts of nearby folks to see who might be involved, and >digging deeper for info in the minds of any who seem likely to have >it> The squad arrives pretty quickly. They use the doors to appear in the corridor outside the room, then enter it in fine military fashion. >When the squad enters, they get their minds efficiently examined >(unless thoroughly screened against it). Depending on the results, >some may later find chances to find better jobs. Ones that don't >conflict with their consciences as much. Others may have "accidents" >of various sorts if they shouldn't be running around loose. Most of their consciences don't bother them. They are filled with patriotism and loyalty to the Homeworld. They are part of a multi-system spanning race, which is currently engaged in a war against another species, and losing. They are not the aggressors, and the war has already lasted for 30 years. They are here as part of a research team trying to find something to turn the tide. The Scientist was here when they arrived. They think he was the discoverer, of this place. >Nemo will use their knowledge to locate the Colonel, and the >Colonel's knowledge to start tracking the scientist... The Colonel knows that the scientist was already here when they arrived. He doesn't like the man, or trust him. He is very bitter about the war, having lost his family to the fighting. He's one of the ones who would press for retaliation should they gain the advantage, provided he doesn't find death before then. He lives to see the invaders destroyed, his only other wish is to join his family in the peace of afterlife. (Alright, I'm not about to go into their religious views. This should give a good view of the situation Nemo's dealing with with the troopers, should he want to do anything about it.) As for the mad scientist, he's petty, has no regard for human life, and is involved in some research involving animals, lifeforms, and the creation of some idealized being. He can't give Nemo directions to the man, as the room he's working in can only be reached via doorway. He does have the coordinate set.) >> Having done that he looks at the other men working with him, >>dullards, each of them. "Williamson, I'm going out for a spot to >>eat. Most definitely. He knows quite a bit about the Blue Horizon, but doesn't care about anything except his research. So if two we find anything, make it something I (as the writer) can handle without his input. I can write him in combat, although not with any detail ;-). ================================= Date: Tue, 25 Apr 2000 16:10:49 +0000 Subject: Re: AAE: VIc Holo-Control Results On Tue, 25 Apr 2000 12:04:49 EDT SkyeFire Said As CAoL Message # 00008394 >In a message dated 4/24/00 9:44:56 PM Eastern Daylight Time, >rio writes: >>"OK, how about Joe and me on one scout team, Eric and Rio on the >>other, Will directing us, Major West watching Will's back and Raver, >>Roger and, er, the two headed dragon as extraction team? Since no one else comments, Major West walks over to the panel and looks at his global. He draws the two zeros inside the circle and gets the coordinates then types them into the global, walks over to a doorway, and opens it. "Let's move 'em out, then," Don says with an honest smile. ================================= Date: Sun, 07 May 2000 01:41:50 +0000 Subject: Re: AAEVIc: Movin' out. "Good luck," the two-headed dragon offers, as sie rotates into hir Transformer self. Moving a few large steps to the side, sie transforms into tank mode, ready to await the extraction. "I'll be monitoring the Lens and 'mechanical' comms. Just holler when you're ready." A hatch opens... "I've a comfy command couch, with munchies, movies, radio, and games to while away the time," sie offers to the Roger-split who's staying behind. ================================= Date: Tue, 09 May 2000 00:11:36 +0000 Subject: Re: AAEVIc: Movin' out. Roger slips on a set of Eric-type sunglasses. "I'm sorry, were you talking to me?" OOC: Lessee, we've got three Rogers online at the moment. One plugging away (still!) at the C&C network control board, and one each ready to deploy with Teams 3a and 3b. =================================
