green-striped-blanketPattern: Sideway Shell Baby Afghan (aka Newbie Shell Afghan) by Donna Lang
Craft: Crochet
Made for: Mending Hearts Project
Size: aprox 36″ square
Hook: 5.5 mm (I)
Yarn: Caron One Pound, Soft Sage 580 and Forest Green 534

Notes:

Ran out of Simply Soft for caps, but I found a box of One Pound so I started this.

Notes/changes from original pattern:

With lt.green, ch.95. Work pattern over 30 (sc, ch.2, 2dc) shells for 10 rows, change to dk.green, continue working 10 rows/color for 6 stripes. Edging is 2 rows of shells, lt.green then dk.green.

Pattern from: McCall’s Needlework & Crafts, Spring 1978
Craft: Knitting
Made for: My boys, among others
Size: Infant
Needle: US 2 – 2.75 mm
Yarn Weight: Fingering / 4 ply (14 wpi)

Notes:

This is copied from a pattern I typed up many years ago from the McCall’s magazine. I wrote it up for two gauges, because it varied based on the yarn. When making these as gifts, I used white yarn and included several colors of ribbon.
