Despite all the other crafty posts, I have been working on more Project Linus blankets on and off — I’m just behind on posting about them :-). Standard note: See my original Project Linus post for details. This one was started a looooong time ago (like, well before I met Roland).
Since I’d worked through most of my old stash of 4-ply, I decided it was time to take on the baby/sport weight stash before buying any new yarn. The green and yellow shell portion of this was something I found in the stash, that I’d started years ago for no particular reason other than to use up yarn. The basic stitch is like this shell stitch pattern (free registration may be needed), or the “next crochet shell stitch pattern” on this page. Basically, it’s alternating 5 dc and 1 sc, with the dc in the sc of the previous row and visa versa. Once I used up what was left of the green and yellow, I worked a few border rows to bring it up to a decent size: 2 rows dc in white, 1 row dc in the leftover green from the shells, 3 rows sc in white. I don’t remember what size hook I used, but the border has about 6 sts = 1″. Overall size approx. 20″x24″. Kinda small, I know, but it would take a LOT of border to bring it up to closer to 36″x36″.
