Ezri Dax

Ezri joined the cast for the final season, replacing fan-favorite Jadzia Dax. Though Jadzia was cool, I loved Ezri’s character. She actually replaced Julian Bashir as my favorite character, which was pretty darn hard to do.

Starfleet Career Summary

Ezri Tegan grew up on New Sydney in the Soporro System. Her family ran a Pergium mining operation, but Ezri made it a point to avoid becoming involved in it. Ezri’s mother is named Yanas Tegan and she has two brothers, Norvo and Janel. Joining Starfleet over her mother’s objections, she served as Junior Counselor on the Destiny. After the death of Lt. Cmdr. Jadzia Dax, the Dax symbiont was to be taken back to Trill and placed into another host. However, the journey was cut short when the symbiont took a turn for the worse en route. As a result, the Trill needed a new host immediately. The only Trill available was Ezri, who did not plan, nor had the training to be, a host. “I went to the operating table as one person, and woke up a whole new person…. well, eight whole new persons.” Ezri had to learn how to deal with her previous personalities, as well as lingering feelings for Jadzia’s husband, Worf. Ezri considered leaving Starfleet to escape her memories, but decided to reconsider in light of how much she was able to help a distressed Garak. Ezri elected to remain on DS9 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Towards the end of the war, Ezri realized that she possessed strong feelings for Julian Bashir and the two became involved in a torrid love affair that is still continuing.
