From prayer to New Age thought to cutting-edge quantum physics, many schools of thought hold that we have the power to affect reality with our thoughts. So, to counter the Republican-based reality that the administration wants to foster, I’ve proposed an alternative.
And since I’m more concerned with results than with getting credit, here’s a few similar campaigns I’ve seen around. I’ll add more in the comments to this diary as I find them.
- Visualize Winning (long load on dial-up, but IMNSHO worth it)
- 60 Seconds A Day For 6 Weeks Campaign
- A Call for Needfire – 2004
- Root for the Packers on Oct. 31. Could help, couldn’t hurt, and if the Skins win, hey, this string was due to fail eventually anyway, right: ;-)
Participate in any or all of these that strike your fancy, or come up with your own. And of course, practice the most powerful “magic” of all — VOTE on Nov. 2!

Cognitive Dissonance
While I salute your sentiment, I’m having trouble reconciling “Reality-Based Community” with an appeal to magic.

Re: Cognitive Dissonance
1. There’s a difference between putting some intent behind concrete, intelligent actions and trying to will the boulder to fly when you can’t even nudge pebbles (c.f. the Bush administration’s groupthink vs. the entire Middle East).
2. There is also a difference between acknowledging that the Bush Brigade is effin’ nuts, and denying our ability to affect reality. (There are all manner of levels to reality — physical existence, emotional reactions, thought patterns, etc.)
3. It can help us stay psyched, and as long as we don’t replace actual effort with “the power of Positive Thinking,” it couldn’t hurt.
4. Go read Quantum Reality. Really.
