GOP: the Long Con Made Manifest
I had a revelation reading this post from Dan Rather. Much to my amazement, I understand the GOP now, especially its attachment to Donald Trump.
The entire Republican Party has become one massive con game.
As my wise wife has noted before, there are some young Republicans who have been immersed in the Right Wing Noise Machine for literally their entire lives, never having known any other world. Some of them are no doubt true believers, having been suckered by generations of lies.
However, for as long as I can remember, the GOP has stood against science, compromise, open-mindedness, peace, and just plain old kindness.…
Starting Small: the Orwellian Abuse of Acronyms (and Compound Words) For Fun and Profit
I’m back! It’s been a long, long interregnum, but it turns out escaping from Cubicle Prison is good for the body, mind, and soul. Who knew?
I have a lot to say, as anyone who’s followed me on Facebook can tell, but for now I want to start small. Namely, abbreviations, like acronyms and compounds. Before I dive in, I feel it is necessary to start with some honesty: the use of “antifa” and “BLM” originate with those groups, insofar as any action can be attributed to such decentralized movements. Absent malice, there is no harm in using shorthand to get to the meat of a discussion.…

Facts and Opinions
Since this blog is titled “Reality Check,” it doesn’t feel like an appropriate place for me to be posting opinion pieces. However, my husband’s blog is intended for just such posts. So he’s letting me use that space when I have something opinionated to say.
So, if you’re interested you can check out my article “Of Sheep and Wolves” on Roland’s Justice Log.

Miscellania
I finally have our Cafe Press story ready, with “Anyone But Bush Again ’04” merchandise (ed. note: cafepress.com/abba04 since closed). Half the proceeds will go towards booting the squatter out of the Oval Office, the other half to helping one family (us) survive the Bush economic policies. More details on the site.…
