Sandra Eileen “Sandi” Ragan died Sunday August 25th, 2024, after a short battle with lymphoma. She was born in 1947 in San Bernardino, California to Raymond and Roberta Foley. Sandi was predeceased by her parents, former husband David Pinney, and beloved partner Greg Roldan. She is survived by her siblings Lawrence Foley, Lorena Wolfe, and Alan Foley, a niece and several nephews, her cats Elsa, Henry, and Rose, her former spouse Michael Ragan, partners Stephen and Warren, and extended family and friends.

Sandi began creating art from childhood. She excelled in a variety of media, finding success in the competitive field of graphic design and developing a lifelong fondness for Apple devices. Whether in two or three dimensions, pencil drawings or computer graphics, fiber or metal, Sandi was there whenever those in her life sought her creative talents. Her career led Sandi not just to professional renown, but lifelong friendships in the Renaissance Faire and Starman fandom communities.

Like her parents, Sandi loved cats, caring for her “fur babies” throughout her life, though she also had a beloved husky Hawk during her time in the Bay Area. She was passionate about making the world a better place, active in local groups and determined to stay informed to her last days. Returning to the Inland Empire after decades in Northern California led Sandi to reconnect with childhood friends, rekindled bonds that would remain strong for the rest of her life.

For all her love of life, Sandi was also dedicated to the work of helping others, often at her own expense. She moved back to Rialto to help her aging mother in Mrs. Foley’s last decade of life. She poured every bit the same amount of effort into works of charity art as for her professional creations. Like many who seek a better Earth, she planted metaphorical trees whose shade Sandi would never know. The world is poorer and dimmer without her, but all the richer and brighter for the life she led.

Sandi requested that her ashes be scattered in a private observance. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to social and environmental charities. For details, see the Celebration of Life page.
